[Short-lived link; full story tomorrow.]
The Border Patrol plans to install 20 emergency beacon towers in the desert south and southwest of Tucson in a bid to save lives of illegal border-crossers and even drug-traffickers who find themselves in distress.
The beacons all located about 15 to 30 miles north of the border will stretch from the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge in western Pima County to the area north of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge south of Tucson.
The rescue beacons are similar to six other beacons installed south of Yuma in the Border Patrol's Yuma Sector more than a year ago, said Border Patrol spokesman Roy Villareal, in Washington, D.C., who heads the agency's National Border Safety Initiative.
Those beacons have been credited with the rescue of 26 people in four separate incidents, including the rescue of three U.S. citizens, students working on a class project, who were stranded when their vehicle broke down.
Villareal said the 30-foot tall towers, mounted on a concrete base with a 3-foot-square footprint, could be deployed very quickly once the assessment is completed, and could be in place in time for the hottest part of summer, he said.

when he admitted that he did not want to pay the health care costs of his illegals Why should he when we, the taxpaying citizens of this state, are forced to? ALL forms of state or fed support should be denied to illegal aliens, but everyone from the President on down (except Tancredo and a few others) refuse to do that. They fill every need of illegal aliens over the protests of American taxpayers and voters. America is being invaded without a shot fired.

agree.
see #55 where i mentioned that rush's comments today indicate that the bush presidency is absorbing the democrat party agenda.
i think rush is right.
but, that means that nothing is going to be done about illegal immigration.

case in point, the san diego restaurant owner that called into the john and ken show angry. he was angry that they were bad-mouthing governor grey davis and his budget. the guy didn't make much sense, until the final moments when he admitted that he did not want to pay the health care costs of his illegals. Yeah, he sure didn't make sense until that point! ANY (honest) small busniness owner in Calif. will tell you what a struggle it is to stay alive, with how much they get hit in taxes. Anyone with half a brain would hate Davis too. That is, unless like you said, they hire illegals, it's the only way they can stay alive.
Sounded like a good show.

no, that doesn't logically follow.
bush is a conservative but a pragmatist.
he's depriving the democrats of their traditional agenda in order to smother them.
you wouldn't want a democrat president because he or she would immediately stack the judiciary with socialists. bush has a chance to change the judiciary for decades. this is not a matter to take lightly. you will remember that the democrats changed the country by means of liberal judges.

Yeah, and they will want to give illegal aliens a pair of fuzzy dice, to hang from the mirrors of their auction purchased $2000 car/truck/van/SUV that will be jointly owned by ten or fifteen illegal aliens , of course with NO insurance!

LOL
To: JackelopeBreeder
They should have at the very least cameras on these beacons so when illegals come near they can be taken into custody and thrown back to their own country.
