U.S. MULLED SERIES OF SANCTIONS AGAINST ISRAEL!!!!
MENL ^ | May 27, 2003 | MENL

U.S. Mulled Series Of Sanctions Against Israel WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The Bush administration has prepared a list of sanctions against Israel should it refuse to comply with a plan for a Palestinian state by the end of the year.

U.S. government and congressional sources said the list was prepared by the State Department and relayed to the National Security Council in April amid the administration's effort to press Israel to agree to the so-called roadmap. The roadmap, drafted by Washington as well as the European Union, United Nations and Russia, calls for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian war and the establishment of an interim state in 2003.

The sources said the State Department's proposed list of sanctions included an examination of the use of U.S. weapons in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israel has employed such platforms as the AH-64A Apache helicopter, the AH-1G Cobra helicopter and the F-16 fighter-jet in air attacks on Palestinian insurgents.

"It's hard to overestimate the anger within the administration toward Israel regarding the delays in the roadmap," a congressional source close to the administration said. "The White House doesn't regard the roadmap merely as foreign policy. It sees the roadmap as a major element toward the reelection of the president."

Why did I vote for this guy?

Because you had a LUCID thought for a moment? It's just amazing the amount of naysayers after all this President has done.

Have you even stopped to contemplate all that HAS been accomplished? Such as, all the acts of terrorism that have been stopped. The two MAJOR conflicts WON. The speed with which the Pentagon was rebuilt.. and the WTC's debri removed. All the terrorists captured or killed? The rebuilding of our nations military (*both physically AND their Esprit d' Cour). The list is much larger than that .. to include intelligence gathering capabilities which were all but destroyed by the Torecelli Ammendment, but you should get my drift.

You do remember the economy he INHERITED that WAS IN A DECLINE TWO YEARS before his ELECTION don't you? We both think he has probably prevented a depression from happening. His policies prevented the recession from being worst than it was. (Hopefully he can continue to prevent the destruction layed upon this nation by the Clinton admin., but it won't be easy..and with the wars we've HAD to fight.. it is a miracle things weren't worst!).

Considering all his accomplishments after all that has happened in such a short period of time, I'd say he DESERVES some respect and SUPPORT.

We DO need Israel to DO SOME TANGIBLE THINGS in the very near future. If both sides of the Middle East conflict don't agree on a plan.... we will never get anywhere!!

Both of us are 100 percent behind Israel. Our support for them has never waivered. Nor has this administrations.

We even think that the Palestinians are out for more than a Palestinian State. They along with almost everyone else in that region, would like nothing better than to GET RID OF ISRAEL TOTALLY.

Which would explain why when the Palestinian/Arafat was offered so much at Camp David, he refused. He had EVERYTHING he wanted. The issue really boiled down to WATER for Israel. Which Israel cannot afford to give up rights to.

To somehow accuse President Bush of being reckless for trying to get Israel to AGREE to an agreement doesn't make sense. It happens to be a good thing. Otherwise.. we go nowhere in this process and we will just continue to see innocent Israeli's dying on their streets or in their homes.

The President has been the TOUGHEST we've ever seen with regard to Arafat. So to say he is somehow Anti-Israel.. is just assinine and insane.

He deserves our support..and I'll tell you this.. he deserves to have the multitude of ACCOMPLISHMENTS he has made acknowledged. Considering how much he has done to undo the damage after all the years it took to do the damage.. I'd say he DESERVES our support and TRUST. I happen to think, as does my better half and most the people we associate ourselves with, that he is doing one hell of a job. As a matter of fact,... he has been brilliant.

We thank GOD that he came to office at this time in our nations history and in the worlds history.

I'm so sick of people saying how things can't be done.. instead of saying how they CAN be done.

Obviously.. whatever the President IS doing.. it has resulted in Israel saying they would AGREE to a plan. It's a start. Now if he can get those idiots on the Palestinian side to agree.. then get them to GO AFTER TERRORIST in their own country.. (which WILL amount to CIVIL WAR in Palestine) perhaps ONE DAY we will TRULY see peace in the Middle East.

The President and his very apt advisors are doing this exactly right. Sadly.. SOME people (thankfully not the majority of them) can't put two and two together to get the WHOLE picture.

You admit you have no solution, yet you are positive your objection to Bush's efforts is correct?

If you can't get from here to there, why are you sure that a detour from previously held beliefs isn't a place to start on the journey?

I have been watching GW closely since the Iraq War ended, and I have noticed a style and look about him that I feel very uncomfortable with. Call it a gut instinct, or intuition... but I have learned to listen to it. He is not the same person I voted for and I believe he is being strongly influenced by the EU, the UN and other elite powers to bring about their desired world agenda in full force (NWO) of which Israel is a key player. Without peace in the ME, there can be no NWO. He has definitely changed his position on Israel. Before Iraq War, he said more than once that Israel had the right to defend itself, and that he would not interfer. Six weeks after the Iraq War has ended, he's now in a hurry to push the road map, at the expense of Israel's safety and security, endorsed by the EU/UN/Quartet. Something, since the end of the Iraq War has rapidly changed in his approach toward Israel.

I don't make opinions rashly, but prefer to first give someone a chance. I feel very uncomfortable with GW pressuring PM Sharon into this roadmap, and my previous post pretty sums up why.

As far as a solution, no mortal man will ever solve the Arab/Jew problem, because it goes back to the beginning of time and will end when time is no more.

1 .i assumed that Bush would win the popular vote.
2. Even if everyon who voted for Pat had voted for Bush, Gore would stil have had a plurality.

"Spring 1938 paraphrase: There is nothing unreasonable about using pressure on Czeckolsovakia to try and end this Central European madness. "

I don't recall America (or Europe for that matter) subsidizing Czechoslavakia $10-12 Billions annually, so your analogy doesn't hold water!

Who pays the piper calls the tune.

I meant to include you in the ping of my post 181, since you echoed the sentiment of Allan Wall regarding voting for President Bush.

1. France and the UK were treaty bound to go to war if Czeckoslovakia. They were blund by blood and fortune. That counts far mor than just 4 Billion$$.

2. I don't support US aid for Israel, except as compensation for specific reasons. (In 1991, we owed Israel for the attacks on it by Iraq.)

Thanks a lot, glad you want to help me with my taxes. I will need your name, address, and SS #. You can trust me, I`ll keep it a secret.

I will pay my own taxes, thank you, but my point is that its time for Israel to grow up and stop using those old excuses. No country is going to drive Isreal into the sea.

No country is going to drive Isreal into the sea.

That may well be, but how many Jews will die when they make the attempt?

Suburban_Jim’s number 8 post

>>>>>> No one doubts the status of Israelies as God's Chosen People (certainly not me). But have you taken a hard look at Israeli society? Morally and ethically it is THE most "liberal" society on the planet; it is worse then anything North America can
fer at it's worst.

It isn't the President that needs to repent and turn back to God. <<<<<<

Afraid to debate the truth? Just like the leftist. All you can do is delete it. And suspended Suburban_Jim account

Correct me if I’m wrong but did not The government of Israel just approve same sex marriage ?? It sounds like there keeping the covenant.
Gee I could have missed that passage in the Bible/Torah that approves this Must be under Sodomia 666

Remember Moses warning back in Exodus. Well they didn’t heed. look what Ezekiel has to say.

Ezekiel 36-16
16 Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,
17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel was living in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds; their way before Me was like the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.
18 “Therefore I poured out My wrath on them for the blood which they had shed on the land, because they had defiled it with their idols.
19 “Also I scattered them among the nations and they were dispersed throughout the lands. According to their ways and their deeds I judged them.

Israel was evected for not keeping the word. And it don’t look like there keeping the Covenant still. That’s because the current group that clams to be Israel are phonies.
Man trying to fulfill the Lords words. Not God.

Hmmm... not exactly. Agreeing when being pressured is not agreeing. PM Sharon admits he was "pressured."

You really needn't get so upset that the link comes up with it "doesn't exist on this server" for those of us who try it travelnurse. We aren't mind readers, and it clearly says it doesn't exist. It isn't anything personal against you honest.

--Point: God has promised to bless the man or nation that blesses the Chosen People. History has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the nations that have blessed the Jewish people have had the blessing of God; the nations that have cursed the Jewish people have experienced the curse of God. ++

I just want to understand the doctrine.
You cited the Old Testament. But Old Testament is judeitial document from Torah the historical part of Bible.

The Christianity was invented in New Testament as the teaching by Christ of 12 first apostoles.
Few new ideas of New Testament:
1. The God for ALL people not only chosen. All are equal before God.
2. Nonviolence. Forgiveness. Salvation.
3. Chosen people rejected Christ the son of God as messiah hence broke the covenant with God. For that God take away the status of chosen people from them forever.

Jewish teaching don't recognize New Testament. So according judaism jews still the chosen people. But Christians had to follow New Testament not Old Testament?

This is coming straight from the West Wing. My roomate from college works there. This story is accurate. Stop excusing the Executive Staff. From Rove's mind to the international playing field. He is the most powerful political adviser since Rasputin.

Simple...start 'behind the scenes' negotiations with the Democrats that they can have the White House (but NOT the House or Senate where we expect HUGE gains).

Negotiate a Modus Vivendi that they will respect the 2nd Amendment, NOT shove the Left/Gay/etc., etc., etc.. down our throat!

Do this, NOT because 'we' are 'selling Shrub out', but because Shrub is, if this report is accurate, a ONE TERM Schliemiel!!!

It is a TERRIBLE THING when a 'Dynasty' loses The Mandate of Heaven!

Apparantly, Shrub has NEVER attended the Afternoon Service on Yom Kippur, where in the process of attaining 'At-One-Ment' [the REAL meaning of Atonement], Jews get to recall the "yet in our day, Your Prescence has BEEN AN ABSCENCE!!!

And, for an Hour and a Half...Jews, as only THEY are Privleged to do, Hurl the broken COVENANT back into G-D's FACE!!

Since the Promises made to Ibn Saud by Franklin Delano Roosevelt over Coffee on The Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal that the Jews would NEVER have Israel [hint, he croaked just weeks later, to be replaced by the most RABIDLY Pro Israel Harry Truman], the Destiny of Presidencies and Congresses has perhaps...JUST PERHAPS been influenced by PROMISES made to an ancient People...one in which "The HOLY ONE, Blessed Be She" will stop at NOTHING to restore HIS and HER PEOPLE!!

Folks, Shrub is in TROUBLE, Pollitically!!
