U.S. MULLED SERIES OF SANCTIONS AGAINST ISRAEL!!!!

U.S. Mulled Series Of Sanctions Against Israel WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The Bush administration has prepared a list of sanctions against Israel should it refuse to comply with a plan for a Palestinian state by the end of the year.

U.S. government and congressional sources said the list was prepared by the State Department and relayed to the National Security Council in April amid the administration's effort to press Israel to agree to the so-called roadmap. The roadmap, drafted by Washington as well as the European Union, United Nations and Russia, calls for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian war and the establishment of an interim state in 2003.

The sources said the State Department's proposed list of sanctions included an examination of the use of U.S. weapons in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israel has employed such platforms as the AH-64A Apache helicopter, the AH-1G Cobra helicopter and the F-16 fighter-jet in air attacks on Palestinian insurgents.

"It's hard to overestimate the anger within the administration toward Israel regarding the delays in the roadmap," a congressional source close to the administration said. "The White House doesn't regard the roadmap merely as foreign policy. It sees the roadmap as a major element toward the reelection of the president."

Why does this not surprise me. My vote for Bush in 04 was lost a while ago anyways.

Genesis 12:3 "And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all nations of the earth be blessed."

--Point: God has promised to bless the man or nation that blesses the Chosen People. History has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the nations that have blessed the Jewish people have had the blessing of God; the nations that have cursed the Jewish people have experienced the curse of God.

Oh boy. This anonymous "congressional source" wouldn't be someone not particularly interested in having Bush re-elected, would it?

Speaking of sources, I couldn't pull this story up...and even if I could, consider the source. I wouldn't like it if this story were true (and it might be), but I'm not going to jump to the conclusion it is true or complete.

The Bush administration has prepared a list of sanctions against Israel should it refuse to comply with a plan for a Palestinian state by the end of the year.

The State Department, and all of it's so called civil servants, are technically part of the "Bush Adminstration", and they may very well have such a list and such "plans" somewhere deep within the bowels (maybe an unfortunate choice of word, but very descriptive) of Foggy Bottom. That doesn't mean they have yet been presented to the political level even within State, let alone to the President.

"It's hard to overestimate the anger within the administration toward Israel regarding the delays in the roadmap," a congressional source close to the administration said. "

See coment above, the "professionals" in State have never supported Israel. Of course they never met a third world or communist (usually the latter implies the former, or soon will) dictator they didn't like. Much easier to deal with dictators than with governments that actually represent the people of their country.

And exactly how often does Bush follow the advice of the State Dept.? Notice that this is where the plan is from. More wishful thinking by State, with a Dem strategist leaking the "plan" in order to put pressure on the admin. If you wouldn't vote for Bush vs. any Democrat based on this crap, then you are just a Democrat in disguise anyway...

There is nothing unreasonable about using pressure on Israel to try and end this mid-east madness.
