One other thing of which one must be aware: the a large percentage of firearms homicide victims are themselves felons... often killed by other felons. If the felons are involved in felonious activity, it is likely they are in possession of a firearm...

The study further found that people with guns at home are 16 times more likely to commit suicide using guns. But no more likely to commit suicide.
All this shows is that people determined to kill themselves make intelligent decisions to use an effective tool for the purpose. There aren't too many successful suicides who killed themselves with a baseball bat.

If Nicole Brown Simpson had owned a gun, she would have been included in "gun owners who died by violence"
(Unless she was carrying it, when she might have become the perp in the "Football hero dies in tragic shooting" story.)

In other news, a study has shown that those who own, or regularly ride in cars are far more likely to die in car accidents that those who have never been in one. Thank you for that, it was the first thing I thought of also. LOL

A University of California at Los Angeles study shows that gun owners are nearly twice as likely to be killed by guns than those who do not keep firearms at home, hmmm, and all this time I thought it was the bullets

Essentially:
1. Being in a high-crime area makes people more likely to own guns (both innocent residents and gang-bangers.)
2. Being in a high-crime area makes people more likely to get shot (whether or not they own guns.)
Correlation is not causation.
