I would suggest that, perhaps, God is not yet through with the pagan Mr. Turner.

I personally believe Ted is about 10 years older than what he claims. It seems to me that he has been losing years rather than gaining years throughout the past four decades…at least. Can anybody confirm this? His bio on the internet backs up his claim which I don’t believe.

Turner's mother lived in Cincinnati and I knew a man that worked for her doing painting etc in some of her apartment buildings. This man was a very strong Christian and Ted's mother was absolutely anti-Christian. The man was forbidden to talk about God or his faith. So Ted got a lot of influence from his mother. I also met Ted Turner Jr. and his story about his father was interesting. Turner Jr. went to Anapolis (if my memory serves me right) and was somewhat of a tyrannt as a father. Turner fired his own son from CNN .. I don't recall the circumstances but it wasn't for anything huge. Very weird man.

His holding have plunged ...to $1.4 billion

Guess this can't be overstated enough.

I don't figure anyone here can realize how much wealth this really is. Oh, I suppose the smart people of FR get it, but do they _REALLY_ understand what it's like to have 1.4 BILLION dollars?

Even if you took half of 1.4B in taxes and only had 700 million... That's right about 15000 times the buying power of most "middle class people" making a wage of 80,000/year. I cannot have any sympathy for someone who not only makes my wage, but has my wages 15,000 times over. I cry a tear for Teddy. NOT!

This doesn't surprise me. If there is anyone who despises America more than the Viet Cong, it would be Ted Turner.

I can already see her sitting in the turret of her SUV ready to shoot down any of Ted's enemies.

I was about to say he looks about 78, and was going to speculate on what kind of hard living aged him.

However, I will continue to pray for her and Ted.

Thank you! The Savior did not tell us to curse our enemies, He instructed us to pray for them. Turner has definitely proven himself to be an enemy of Christians. Lets not return his bitterness and hatred. Lets pray that God brings him to a point of repentance and faith.

Ted's mother was absolutely anti-Christian. The man was forbidden to talk about God or his faith.

Sometimes God says, "You can either do this the 'easy way' or the 'hard way'!".

It sounds like Ted rejected the "easy way" and is now getting the "hard way". His problems won't stop until he comes to terms with his real need.

I just checked the web. Ted was booted out of Brown U, but it doesn’t say when or why.

The same may be true for Jane. I admit, I have questioned her conversion.

Her "conversion" allowed her to give millions of dollars during the last election cycle with the express purpose of supporting pro-abortion candidates.

It means having 2 1/2 truckloads of steal boxes filled with $100 bills.

Both Ted and Jane had parents who committed suicide--Jane's mother when she was 12 and Ted's father when he was in his early 20's. This may be one reason they seem so emotionally attached.

I don't believe Jane is a Christian. She is the head of a teen anti-pregnancy organization here in GA. I'm sure abortion is a one way she feels this problem can be solved.

eno, thank you for the reply. I can't prove it right now. Age doesn't matter, but it's just the usual deception that bugs me, and I believe he’s a liar. And I will eat chicken a la whatever or steak if I’m wrong (with lemon pie at the end of the meal).

“I think Turner has called Christians "Jesus Freaks" and said religious people are just weak minded.”

His feelings about religion appear to be a little bit more complicated than just simple, run-of-the-mill Christian-bashing. Here’s an expert from an article that appeared recently in “The National Review Online”:

“Turner really was a deeply religious boy, despite his father's emotional abuse. He intended at one point to become a missionary. Then, when he was a teenager, his younger sister Mary Jane contracted a form of lupus, and suffered terribly before dying a relatively short while later. All his prayers for her recovery — an hour a day, he said — were for naught.

“’She used to run around in pain, begging God to let her die,’ he recalled. ´My family broke apart. I thought, 'How could God let my sister suffer so much?'

“These events happened nearly half a century ago, but he speaks of them as if they had occurred last week….”

Perhaps Ted enjoys Jane's visits because that is as close as he can get to the money he used to have. I'll bet that divorce didn't come cheap.

So Turner had a father that committed suicide and a mother who hated God so much no one can mention the name in front of her. No wonder the man is a mess.

A pity he never straightened things out between himself and the Lord.

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

"Sow the wind.......

reap the whirlwind"

I was 19, in country, when she betrayed all of us. There was a time when an apology would have been acceptable. Reap the whirlwind not enough from this perspective. What I wish for her is not fit to print in this forum.
