The local cops debated for about a month over whether he should be charged with " unlawful discharge of a firearm "... Oh for pete's sake. Do they want to go on bear patrol besides all their other duties? I think deep down inside, most LE agencies would rather law abiding citizens take care of property matters on their own.

Of course the enviros answer to this is the re-introduction of wolves, to reign in the deer population. The enviros essentially want to turn back the clock and reduce the areas determined as "suitable" for human habitation. Take a look at what's going on in the northwest. Wolves. Now there's a thought. Of course if people can't shoot wild animals coming after them, their kids, and their animals, then of course they can't live there. What exactly is the point in this except to crowd everybody in ghettos where they can be watched better. /paranoia.

Bump your post #16, an excellent account of NJ's not so natural history.

The enviros are very dedicated to WAY FEWER humans on the planet. Large regions with no access, like policy being applied to much of our west. Not paranoia, perhaps?

Atta boy. If you can't be responsible for yourself, shoot something. Sweet.
To: Huck
Imagine that. People acting like morons and then blaming the animals. What a shockAin't that the truth? I am in no way some "animals right activist", but when stupidity leads to further irresponsible actions, the problem is not with the irresponsible party.

Lol, smart growth=people trying to get away from high crime areas to survive and not being able to get out. I'd rather face a wolf than Los Vatos Locos, or the Crips. You can reason with a wolf. I think maybe the environazis need a heads up. Lets ship all those bears to their NYC high rise apartments. /sarcasm.

Maybe there is a place for wolves, if they are controlled by hunting, in remote areas of New Hampshire, the Adirondacks, etc. But in thickly settled areas with humans around, they are no more suitable a forest resident than bears and cougars.I don't favor the re-introduction of wolves anywhere in the U.S. Opening up hunting seasons is the answer to both deer and bear over-populations. If that's not done in NJ there will be fatalities resulting from bear attacks.
