SARS seems to be a very difficult bug to contain. Drugs to fight bacteria are apparently of little use. Just called my friend in Taiwan last night and the disease is serious over there. Respirators are a necessary piece of equipment to fight this disease. In my opinion, the above article might shed some light on companies that produce equipment that will help battle this disease.

Antibiotics are useless against a virus. When you child has a sore throat and the strep test comes back negative, it is most likely a virus. The doctor give antibiotics anyway mostly just to appease the parent.

The above article mentions a couple who sell equipment to fight this illness. Also, Medtronic, a huge medical supply company will also profit. Something to think of BEFORE the disease hits.

I'm trying to help Freepers who might be doing research. Once you get one, you can check the sector and find others. Respirators are going to be in demand...no doubt about it.

Story for your review:

Whoever thinks this thing can be contained when it is spread by aerosol cough is absolutely insane. Drugs won't cure it and respirators to keep people breathing until they recover or die will be the ITEM in demand.

I am not surprise by the Canadian situation. The Chinese have a lot of contact with Canada. They also have a lot of contact through Mazatlan, Mexico. In my opinion, Mexico probably will be facing a SARS outbreak (if not already) in the Mazatlan area. Here's a link to the Toronto SARS travel warning you were reading:

Canada (and/or Mexico) then here. Another story showing that officials do not have this thing under control.

Here are another couple of links. Notice on the five day chart that someone on May 22 bought very large amounts of RMD and RESP. Very interesting purchases of stocks that are not traded in high volume. At least I found it interesting.

Click here for RMD 5-day chart.

Click here for RESP 5-day chart.

Hey Bob,

Here's ANOTHER story posted tonight at 10:42 CST about 25 possible new cases in Toronto. Seems they might have not been forthcoming with ALL of the information about SARS infections. My, my...some officials in some of these countries can't seem to get it right.

Here's the story:

Interesting excerpt from that story:

"I am convinced with the advent of an early winter in the Northern Hemisphere in just six short months, we will see a resurgence of SARS that could far exceed our experience to date," Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota, testified to Congress.

Oh wow. Need a plastic bubble in which to live for a few months.

A local doctor here told me the hospital only has two ventilators (respirators). He indicated major hospital in Austin wouldn't have much more (maybe 10). Regardless, not nearly enough for treating outbreak of SARS. I would sure like someone to post information about manufacturers of reverse airflow rooms. Can't find info.

Now Canada is probably going to have to revise their numbers upward. China and who knows who else have more than likely been lying about the numbers. If a SARS case has been found on the border between Russia and China, where else has SARS gone (logic)?

I mentioned previously in posts on other threads about the port city of Mazatlan and the contact with China. Funny how so few listen, then when something happens, they forget who said what. :-O

Boy, I bet you just can't wait until it gets here.

Don't get your hopes up too high though.

It might not happen, and that could be quite an emotional letdown for you.

Another interesting observation today:

Funny how someone bought a huge amount of VAS when the price dipped:

Someone is buying when it dips a bit on RMD?.

Interesting how someone bought huge amounts of RESP when the price dropped? Hmmmm?.

There are others. Something you might want to research the necessity of (quickly). Someone is buying very large blocks of all three and average daily trading volume is usually very low. However, recently, it spiked upward. Tell me what you think.

Oh no, you are incorrect. If it gets here, I'll probably die. I have respiratory problems. One must take crisis and turn it into opportunity, at least for the remaining members of my family. As the Chinese character indicates...
