A Modest Proposal: Ron Paul for President
lewrockwell.com ^ | 5/22/03 | David R. Henderson

Posted on 05/23/2003 8:58:16 AM PDT by Chancellor Palpatine

"These are the times that try men's souls." So wrote the noted American patriot Thomas Paine in urging his countrymen to fight King George the Third. Well now we have another George, who is not a king, but increasingly seems to act like one. And this George also threatens Americans' freedoms. I refer to President George Walker Bush.

When the American revolutionaries made their case for independence from Britain, they believed that a decent respect for "the Opinions of Mankind" required that they give their reasons. Let me, like them, say why we would be better off with Mr. Bush out of office and retired to Crawford, Texas for a much-needed rest.

Consider his attacks on Americans' freedom since September 11.

Just posting this stupidity - I don't believe it.

The hysterical shrieking paranoics of the Paul feather (I can't say that there's enough to call 'em a wing) of the GOP can't seem to abide the exercise of common sense in their stress filled, dreadfully put upon lives, mainly because they can't carry a grenade launcher on an aircraft.

It's enough of a wing that the owner of this site gave it it's own forum.

Ron Paul is hung up on that Contitution thing. He needs to let it go!
As any true GOPer knows, a little socialism is a good thing.

Slight correction; It's "constamatooshin" when you're dealing with the communitarian crowd.

A modest answer to their modest proposal: He has as much chance of winning as Elmer Fudd, although Elmer is pro-gun rights (he does go wabbitt hunting). These guys just can't come to grips with the fact that almost no one is buying into there "we live in a police state" type of Chicken Little" rants.

We don't live in a police state...yet! The PATRIOT ACT, however, makes such totalitarianism more possible. The PATRIOT ACT II they are said to be brewing up is supposedly more frightening.

Consider this: even if George Bush & Co. are trustworthy, can we be certain that Bush's successor (Repub or Dem) is going to be equally trustworthy?

We have to be very careful to consider the future repercussions of any laws that we allow our politicians to pass.

I was listening to the Congress Critters question Greenspan the other day and heard Paul blathering on and on like Foghorn Leghorn. At first I thought it was a set-up comedy piece put-on. Paul and Byrd ought to be checking out twofers at the local nursing homes.
