SIMON & Schuster is close to an agreement to sell the first and second serial rights to Sen. Hillary Clinton's memoir "Living History" to Time Inc. for an estimated $100,000, according to reliable industry sources. Newsweek is the underbidder, but a final pact has not been inked. That could happen as early as today.

$100,000 seems a small offer compared to the millions Simon & Schuster paid for the book deal. Does that mean Hillary! no longer has as much political clout as she did earlier?

TIME continues to suck up to the Clintons. But that's not really a surprise, is it?
I distinctly remember, back in 1992, how TIME deliberately ignored all the warning signs about Bill (the pot-denial, the draft-dodging, and especially Jennifer Flowers) and endorsed him, effectively giving him national respectability with the public. Later, TIME's chief editor Strobe Talbott even went to work for the Rapist.
TIME and the Clintons go back aways, and from the looks of it, are continuing their mutual butt-kissing. That's why I will never read their crap magazine again.

I'm sure the long-suffering AOL/TW shareholders are thrilled to death about spending 100K for Hildebeaste Dung.
