The article does not say which specific jobs are available and out there for these unemployed people. Many unemployed do not expect six figure jobs anymore, but where, specifically, are the jobs for $35,000 - $60,000? What address, and which companies have these available jobs and how do they apply for them? Post the addresses for all to see.

Heard a lady speak the other day, a fellow technical writer, of going from $60K to $16K in two years. During this same period, my income fell to 60% of its prior peak -- but my God has been faithful.

It's really good to have "invisible means of support" when the obvious props are collapsing!

In California, in my county, there is a shortage of mechanics and welders. Their salaries would be in that price range. Our schools do not teach skills that can be applied to trades, so these types of jobs are really going unfulfilled. Hopefully no one will start an H1B visa program to bring in welders, hopefully Americans will begin to train for these jobs and fill the positions.

Well, one could always do what I did. When the real estate market tanked out here in Los Angeles, in the early 90s, I brought up my typing skills and temped for a few months, before landing myself in an HMO working for about 45k per year. This was a 35 % reduction in my income. I drive a 1983 Toyota Corolla, and live in an apartment, well within my means. It sucks, but hey, ya gotta do, what ya gotta do.
