Mexican victims' kin threaten U.S. lawsuit

By Associated Press

MEXICO CITY -- The bodies of 11 of 19 illegal migrants who died after being locked in a sweltering truck trailer in South Texas arrived in Mexico City late Thursday, as anger mounted and some victims' relatives threatened to sue the United States over the deaths.

Mexican air force personnel unloaded the white and brown metal coffins, which were wrapped in cardboard containers, from the cargo ramp of a C-130 Hercules transport plane that landed at Mexico City's international airport.

The somber arrival of bodies came as relatives of two of the victims said they had hired lawyers to sue the U.S. government for $1 million for wrongful death and policies that violated the human rights of Jose Antonio Villasenor and his 5-year-old son, Marco Antonio, who lived in a Mexico City suburb.

Both died in the trailer, which was discovered by authorities at a truck stop outside Victoria, Texas, on May 14.

"Conditions for immigrants, the humiliations and harassment against them, are massive, grave and unacceptable human-rights violations," said Jose Antonio's cousin, 33-year-old Salvador Villasenor.

Villasenor spoke to reporters outside a Mexico City chapel where family members gathered to hug one another and sing religious songs around Jose Antonio's casket, which was surrounded by white and red flowers and candles.

The tiny body of Marco Antonio was being viewed by other family members in a funeral home in another part of the Mexican capital.

Villasenor said the suit would probably be filed under the statutes of an International Labor Organization convention on workers' and immigrants' rights.

He also said the family planned to allege negligence on the part of U.S. authorities because a Texas dispatcher fielding an emergency cellular phone call from one of the trapped migrants in Spanish was unable to understand it. By the time she found someone to translate, the call had been lost.

"How is it possible that a police operator in a country of (millions) of Hispanics doesn't speak a word of Spanish?" he asked.

Earlier Thursday, a source close to the family said it was considering suing the United States and Mexico, but Salvador Villasenor said the blame for the tragedy lay solely with the United States' unfair migration policies.

Under what legal theory are the relatives of these criminals liable for their crimes?>>>>>>>>

Our gov't should file countersuits against these familes for
expenses, slander, defamation of character. etc. etc...

What legal theory is there that holds the U.S. gov't libel
for ANYONE who dies in the act of committing a crime ???

Some how the mexican gov't has convinced itself & it's citizens that the US has a never ending supply of jobs and
that mexicans have the rights to just walk right in and
DEMAND one, ahead of all citizens & legal immigrants.

With at least a MILLION ILLEGALS, a day, *loitering* around on US street corners, seeking ANY wage, looks like jobs are getting a little scarce even for Americans.

And ya know, the PREZ did say that any CITIZEN who needs a job, should be able to get one.

How is it that out of a whole truck load of illegals purportedly looking for work that not one can speak enough english to say "help"?

Also, just out of curiousity...if they're locked up in a truck with no windows, where do they tell the 911 operator to send the paramedics?

And, finally, if Mexico wants the US to hire bi-lingual operators, why don't they put up the cash for it? (rhetorical/off)

How much does anybody wanna bet that Mexicans are told to come here illegally and if they encounter resistance, to sue the USA? What a way to make a buck!

Against the "families"? We'd collect what? A handful of beans and a '57 Chevy?

No. Simply sue the Mexican Government, or better, just turn off the Colorado river for a while.

*Someone* is backing all these families with their lawsuits.
Let them know that we intend to countersuit these outrageous
lawsuits and see if the backers are willing to foot more
bills brought on by a countersuit.

No. Simply sue the Mexican Government>>>>>>>>

The mexican gov't stated long ago "they are not responsible
for where their citizens travel".

turn off the Colorado river for a while >>>>>>>>>

This should have already been done since mexico is YEARS behind on their water debt to the US via the rio grande.

Because there is no law for me or anyone else living in America (where English is the official language) that says we have to learn the language of a third world cesspool.

I'm sick of their pathetic whining!!

They should sue ---but they should sue the smugglers who locked them into the trailer, they should sue the truck driver, they should sue whatever idiot told them that 911 was a Spanish speaking number and that Americans are expected to speak Spanish because they refuse to speak English. They have no reason to sue the American taxpayers who are watching their own standard of living drop because we're expected to provide them all the free things they think they're entitled to have.

Seems there IS a law.....and many states are now requiring
police, firemen, ETM"s to take spanish courses.

Here's ONE reason ALL foreigners expect all our agencies to
speak ANY language that ANY foreigner DEMANDS........

"Another Clinton policy, Executive Order 13166, requires all government agencies, and all entities receiving federal funds (such as doctors and hospitals), to provide their services in any foreign language demanded by a client. The perfect opportunity to rescind this costly unfunded mandate was served up when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled two years ago that no one has a right to demand government services in languages other than English. But President Bush chose to continue Clinton's pandering to non- English speaking minorities. Regrettably, Bush breathed new life into Clinton's EO 13166 with all its follies and costs."

Maybe citizens should sure our gov't DEMANDING free spanish
lessons for ALL, so we can communicate with any of the
criminals our gov't allows to walk into our country.

What do you think about some CITIZENS suing our gov't,
DEMANDING agencies, entities, provide all services, ballots
,paperwork, and translators in PIG LATIN.

Either that or sue the gov't demanding FREE spanish lessons
for ALL citizens.

Maybe then they would make english the "official language".

It's high time we started filing lawsuits against the family members of these illegals.

No they are not responsible for the actions of their relatives, let's place blame where it lays, with the Mexican Government, who's economic policy is the exploitation of the people of Mexico, both those in Mexico, and those in the U.S.

Can you imagine having an injured, bleeding child and you call 911 and get that recorded message giving you all kinds of options to press? Actually what these people want are only fluent Spanish speakers answering those calls, they don't believe they must speak English fluently ----very very few people are fluent in both languages ---so it must be Spanish they speak.

Yes, I CAN understand the mess (COST) this multi-language
crapola is bringing to the USA, but it's apparent this is
just one more thing the gov't chooses to ignore.

From what I've read, looks like Clinton made it a law, and
Bush hasn't taken any steps to change this law. This is also
another reason medical costs continue to climb, doctors and
hospitals required to provide translators in ANY language
demanded by the client, if drs. & hosps. are recieving any
federal monies.

LOL, injury in the commision of a crime is not a human rights violation jack-ass.

"Conditions for immigrants illegal (criminal) aliens, the humiliations and harassment against them, are massive, grave and unacceptable human-rights violations entirely self inflicted," said Jose Antonio's cousin, 33-year-old Salvador Villasenor.

Villasenor said the suit would probably be filed under the statutes of an International Labor Organization convention on workers' and immigrants' rights communist, anti American, unConstitutional, un-voted upon, POS non-treaty designed entirely for protecting criminals

How is it possible that millions of Hispanics in our country, and those trying to get in, don't speak the language commonly spoken in the country they wish to live and work in????

Earlier Thursday, a source close to the family said it was considering suing the United States and Mexico, but Salvador Villasenor said the blame for the tragedy lay solely with the United States' unfair migration policies.

Yah, I just got a summons from a family of Fleas. Appearantly one of their own was killed while trying to attach it's parasitic ass to my dog....

>>You really have to ask?????????<<

Actually, I had the answer all keyed out under the question, but I decided to let the question hang out there, all stark and obvious.

:-(

I'm afraid I DO know the answer. Political expediency trumps what's good for America. Very disappointing.

So is anybody here going to get the message from W as to what he wants?? Not one Clinton executive order rescinded no real replacements for the US attorneys Clintoon put in place to keep his corruption going. If you cant vote your conscience at the Congressional level but only listen to the RINO's and vote your fears then you are shifting this country into overdrive toward socialism and worse.

A preponderance of third world nations not only have a national language, but must have in order to survive as a nation. It is necessary so their own citizens can talk with one another, serve together in the military, converse with diplomats of other nations, survive in the court/legal systems, and do business with other nations.

French is the national language of the Congo (a former Belgium colony) and Djibouti (a former French colony). Some other countries in Africa use English, while nations in Central and South Americas, with a preponderance of Indian tribes in their populations, use either Spanish or Portugese.

It is about time the United States established English as the national language, if only to keep state and local governments from going broke over the ever escalating translation costs.
