All good points. I agree that GWB is a much better campaigner than his dad and is in an overall better position to win relection (particularly given the WOT).

I think he probably will win, HOWEVER, a lot of things can happen between now and 11/04 that can change his reelection prospects. And ignoring his conservative base doesn't help him.

I'm outta here. You all have a nice weekend.

Thanks for the ping. There is no doubt about it. While certainly not perfect, who among us is, Bush is the best bet. The tax plan will kick in and things will improve in the economy. The war on terror will continue and many Americans can continue to live as though there is no war going on at all. When have we ever been able to say that?

I thought the downfall of President George Bush I was his decision to wage a political war against Israel on behalf of his Islamic friends. I remember it well.

I pray his son does not follow that path.

Me, I only hope that Rove & Co. make sure the GOP voters do not get complacent in any degree. Build on the GOTV effort big time. If W looks unbeatable come votin' time, many Rats will stay home and, unfortunately, lazy Republicans. A huge Senate majority is definitely possible if the vote is turned out....

Just speculation, but I think this is Rove's real goal for 2004. Lot's of quotes from him on "the race will be a barnburner, very very tight..." and the like. I believe it's in the bag, and Rove has his eye on Senate races...

Thanks for the article. Looking forward to the victory, but vowing not to get complacent cause those Dems are just too sleazy and unpredictable in their tactics.

The general public is not blind to the disgrace and dishonor that Bill and Hillary brought upon the White House and the Office of the Presidency.

Oh, I wish everyone I know agrees with this assessment. BUT I had a discussion with a nephew living in the distant, uninvolved, remote islands of Hawaii, and he made the most astonishing statement to me: "I don't think as badly as you do of Pres. Clinton. In fact, I think he was a pretty good President." Okay, after I got my breath back, I listed off at least 20 reasons why he should hate the Clintons: travelgate, filegate, Chinagate, missing the chance to go after bin Laden, stealing furniture from WH and on and on.

He listened, and then said, "I don't know anything about that. Can you send me proof." Not overwhlem him with reading, I am sending him, once per week, a listing of a "problem area" from miaT's threads - that will give him more than enough reading. I just haven't decided whether to ruin his week by sending them on a Monday, or ruin his weekend by sending them on a Friday, but I am positive that by the end of week 3, is going to think very differently about Bill and Hillary, or I have will have to disown him as being too stupid to be a member of my family (J/K)...(ok, maybe not).

If he can thinks this way, an educated Gen X'er, it bothers me to think that there are thousands (millions?) more just like him.

Here's a challenge. I think every one of us should find someone in their life's sphere, someone who thinks just like my nephew, and take on the education task that I have - so that we can be assured of an educated, AWARE voting public when the next election rolls around. I do NOT want to go through another close race, decided in the Courts. I want a landslide win by the most honorable, filled with integrity, genuine, Christ-loving President Bush.

And the Federal funds which come with that means Democrat will be in the minority for at least a generation.

Rove and Bush know of this of course. Their goal is to break the impasse once and for all--to give the GOP the type of majority status Democrats had for decades.

From your post to God's ears.

Thank you for making the effort! No doubt, you'll succeed.

This is how we win...picking them off, one by one... :-)

Thanks for the ping.

Coupla comments after reading entire thread---

1.--Never underestimate the ability of Hillary Clinton to rise, like a phoenix, from the ashes. Remember how it was with Bill--"The Comeback Kid"--just when you thought you had him DEAD---like Freddie Kruger, he just kept coming back. Ditto with Hillary. She will always find a way to come back. Susan Estrich learned that even commenting negatively about Hillary results in being snubbed by newspapers which otherwise would be delighted to print your column. Hillary is a deadly concoction. The Lady MacBeth of the 21st century. The Black Widow Spider of life forms.

2.--I feel a little queasy about 2004 when I read about what's going on currently in Iraq. We won the war a heck of a lot easier than we're able to keep the peace and help the Iraqis rebuild a life for themselves. More news coverage about this might undermine the tremendous wave of support for Bush right now. This would be terrible--and could be prevented.

I agree the push is on for Senators. Won't it be lovely to not have to listen to the RINOs if we get about 5 more decent Republicans in 2004. The odds are definitely in our favor!

Listen, if I just wanted to vote for someone better than Howard Dean, I'd vote for you. If you don't expect Bush to walk the walk, you'll get what you deserve.

I'm trying to figure out how your post relates to mine.....

I was agreeing with you, and you seem rather irritated with that (and apparently with me, as well). Am I missing something?

Who exactly doesn't expect Bush to 'walk the walk'? ......and why in the world did you say anything about voting for ME?

(Did you perhaps reply to the wrong person??)
