WASHINGTON — Gen. Tommy Franks (search), who commanded the American-led coalition campaigns that won wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, is retiring.
Defense officials made the announcement Thursday, but it was not immediately clear when Franks, 57, would retire. Senior officials said the departure from U.S. Central Command (search) was not imminent.
