Excellent post...
For the record, the ultral liberal Pacifica radio which sponsored many of the anti-war marches, is really part of the Public Broadcasting system. They recieved $1.3 million in your tax dollars last year....
Yes I know they don't advertise it, but they still are!

Merit? What's that?
Their message is more important than any little piddling details like verifiability, truth, common sense, or accuracy.
It's for the children!

Concur, but need a clarification.
I'm not sure of the criteria is to be considered part of NPR.
I know that NOTE 5 - GRANTS in the last audited financial report at pacifica.org say the five Pacifica stations received $1.2 million from the Corporation For Public Broadcasting that year.
United For Peace and Justice's Leslie Cagan is the head of Pacifica's Board.

---------------------
It isn't about wanting another. It's about putting their show in so that they displace conservative alternatives. It is a subtle type of censorship.

6. Richard Bey - WABC
Richard got canned. His show (along with Steve Malzberg) was replaced with Monica Crowley followed by an earlier Michael Savage timeslot.
In NYC (Blue State)during drive home time, Richard Bey bombed in the ratings.

Well remember NPR is only one part of "Public Broadcasting". PBS is the other major part...but PRI, Pacifica and others are part of the same octopus. They are all funded, in part through the Corporation For Public Broadcasting (CPB). The bookkeeping would make an Enron accountant blush but for example # 18 Amy Goodman and I think # 16 Counterspin are hosted by Pacifica.
(Minor correction; # 39 Garrison Keillor of Prairie Home companion is PRI, but heard on mostly NPR stations...I need a drink)

Howie Carr, #10 on your list, is the CONSERVATIVE voice of Boston radio (WRKO). He frequently mentions that he lurks on Free Republic. He'll be very amused to see himself on a list of liberal radio hosts.

31. Jim Hightower - Syndicated I wasn't aware that Hightower still had a radio show.
To: finnman69
also on RichardBey...he has been reduced to running his website www.richardbey.org with its whopping 300 members.
I see there that Bey has posted links to FR. Even liberals come to conservative sites to be entertained and get the news.

You forgot Liberal radio's newest host - Rep. Bernie Sanders.
He had his premier this past Monday on WDEV.
I think I saw a blurb that they may be planning to take live callers during the show. I'm surprised no one had thought
of that before.

Number 33 Michael Jackson is off the air from KLAC. They went to mostly an all music format. He may have landed a job somewhere else though the big Loser. Parley

So far liberal talk shows don't do well in the ratings. The mood of the country now makes it even less likely for success! I know I can't listen to any of them. We get enough of 'em on the TV news.
To: Doctor Raoul
Below is a list of 95 liberal talk hosts, liberal talk networks, liberal talk stations or syndicated liberal programs that are in the marketplace ALREADY. I recognized some of the names on the list and agree they are liberal. I question two on your list. Tony Brown speaks mostly to a Black audience from a black perspective. I have heard him criticize Democratic policies and dont hold him as a liberal. I have attached a link to an article authored by him that suggests the republicans should garner another 10 percent of black votes so as to toast the Democrats. I believe he would prefer it that way.
9. Tony Brown - WLS 890 AM

People who believe Howie Carr is a liberal have not listened to him or they are just plain nuts.
10. Howie Carr - ???? http://www.howiecarr.org/

Garrison Keillor, to his credit, has occasionally satirized the lefties. My favorite recollection is his statement that liberals believe that animals in the wild behave just as they are portrayed in Disney movies, or, at least would, were it not for the crushing effects of poverty.

Howie, if you're out there, lose the sound effects. The coughing and the telephone are so annoying, I have to turn the radio off.
To: LoneRangerMassachusetts
Exactly. I like Tony Brown (used to watch his Journal show years ago) and have always considered him very sharp (a Conservative, if one has to choose a label). And while he may be a hidden dem (if he is, he hides it well), he is certainly not a liberal.
