Jose Santos earns personal redemption riding Funny Cide to smashing Preakness win

EVEN THOUGH it was rumbling deep within his belly Jose Santos did not let it out. He had work to do first.

Reaching back, he popped Funny Cide with his whip in his right hand and then deftly shifted the stick to his left hand for another crack. Although he could not detect the hoofbeats of the other horses in the Preakness Stakes (G1) May 17 because they were too far behind him, a chant that rose from the Pimlico Race course infield chimmed in his ears.

"Ole, ole, ole, Jose, Jose, Jose!"

The pure joy of a victory he said he had thirsted for following the crush of what turned out to be baseless allegations that he used an illegal device while winning the Kentucky Derby (G1)began to flood over him as he and Funny Cide crossed the finish line a stunning 9 3/4 lenghts in front of runner up Mid Way Road that winning margin greater than all but one running in the 128- year hisory of the Preakness....

Good article about the Preakness here. I have witnessed seen alot of horse races and I can honestly say that was the most impressive win I have ever seen. We were on our feet squealing and cheering as Funny Cide pulled way from the other horses in the final strech. It was great. The Belmont is going to be awesome.
