But they PREFER dogs and small humans. At Brazos Bend State Park which is close to my town, they request that you leave Rover at home, there are MANY gators running loose there, and they consider Rover to be LUNCH. They also like to carry off granny and small children. They have a more difficult time sneaking up on cats! Cats are sneakier than 'gators.

Yep.

When I was a guide in the Okeefenokee Swamp, you have no idea how many upset dog owners came screaming up to us to "do something" about the gator that just gobbled up Fifi. Signs all over the place to watch after pets and children and they think because the things walk so slowly that they can't possibly catch a dog or child.

We would always watch families with kids and dogs and warn them. Moms would always hold their kids' hands but always seemed to think that the family pet could take care of itself.
