This may be a little stupid, but I read that they [presumed al Qaeda operatives] had mentioned the "tail of the snake" in recent messages referring to their supposedly planned attack on the US.

I remember hearing that quote in their message and it caught my attention.

I think that we (the US) are probably the snake. Actually, I remember hearing that "snake" phrase before, perhaps in one of the bin Laden tapes. If they are talking about geography, I think the only part of the US that could qualify as the "tail" would be Florida.

No, wait, Hawaii could also qualify - it's a sort of trailing chain of islands that might also look like a tail to looney Islamic fanatics.
