Good post PL. The discussion on this thread has been interesting to say the least. I was particularly amused by the comment about a bunch of players who aren't quite good enough to qualify for a PGA tournament, but yet they could beat Annika with just a 5-iron and putter.

There are two double entendres, you only caught one, which is one more than I expected of you.

I've been beaten by women before....
Why am I not surprised?

Women have no business on the PGA tour. Period. They already have their own, lesser, tour.

That's right, a 5 iron and a putter. Some could eschew the putter!

Can you believe some of the opinions on this thread? I've been beaten by women before, but I don't begrudge them the fact that their game was better than mine that day. I'm not a very gifted person athletically but I've competed in friendly games against women in tennis, bowling, racquetball and one-on-one basketball. I'd play to win every time and most times I did. One time a lady friend was visibly upset that I was defeating her so handily. So I told her that I was obligated to play my best against her because, to do less, would be patronizing and she would resent that even more.
That said, I did take it easy on girlfriends a few times. Sometimes, it's not all about winning.
I've lost a few also and believe that accepting defeat graciously and realizing one's limitations is part of a well-rounded character.
Being a gracious loser is actually one of the better things I like about golf. I admire how Greg Norman handles it every time a cruel blow is dealt to him in a major tournament. You know he wants fiercely to win but you also know he wants to be the best ambassador for the sport he can possibly be. Too bad a lot of athletes in other sports don't have that sort of class.

And I know I could beat you, so that means a woman could beat you, Sir Cedric the Pusillanimous. ;-)

I agree with your point on the LPGA. IMHO, they are the only real potential losers here for the exact reasons you cited.

A challenge my rear end. She does not have one thing to lose and everything to gain. It is all publicity and the PC crowd.
Everybody that screams diversity and equality want it under the terms and rules they set, they dont want real diversity and equality.
Open up all sports to the best and drop the gender. It would save our public schools and Universitys tons of money.

That's right, a 5 iron and a putter. Some could eschew the putter! I presume that your son on the Canadian Tour and the rest of your tour pro pals [see posts: "We know at least 15 touring pros." & "BTW all the touring pros we know privately hold the same views I have espoused here."] are sending registered letters to Skip Kendall, Lumpy, Lee Janzen, Scott Simpson, Steve Elkington, Stuart Appleby, Jake, Joel Edwards, Scott McCarron, Fulton Allem and Keith Clearwater explaining that there's 100 divorced guys with three mortgages on their houses, driving a beat-up jalopies who would crawl to Texas if given a sponsors exemption for this tournament. Oh, and by the way, every one of them could beat this list of tour pros with just a 5 iron and a putter!
Perhaps Elk should have played with just a 5 iron and a putter - maybe he wouldn't be sucking hind tit to the Baby-Faced Assassin. ;-)
VRWCmember: man, I couldn't hold it till Friday. This was just too sweet. Fairways and greens, she the woman. Too bad she caught a couple of mudballs. ;-)
