(IsraelNN.com) Members of the ZAKA emergency service and victim identification organization will be assisting police and the army in providing security for the traditional Lag B’Omer hilulah on Mt. Meiron at the grave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, zt”l. In addition to handling any medical emergency situations, should they develop, ZAKA volunteers will be assisting the police and army spot potential terrorists disguised as religious Jews mingling with the overflow crowds attending the festivities. ZAKA volunteers, who are all from the religious community, explain that they are better versed in the subtleties of behavior and dress of the various religious groups than the security personnel not from that sector of society. The ZAKA security detail took on a special urgency when two of the three most recent Arab suicide bombers were revealed to have disguised themselves as religious Jews in order to mingle with their Jewish targets.

Lag B'Omer (Tuesday) is a festival which many hareidim ("Ultra-Orthodox") Jews celebrate by making a pilgrimage to the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron. It is a custom to bring little 3-year-old boys for their upsherin (first haircut).

Obviously this is a very tempting target for terrorists (G-D forbid). ZAKA is better qualified to spot "ringers" in a crowd of hareidim than most non-Orthodox IDF soldiers.

A gathering of children is like waving a red flag in front of a bull to Arafat.
