In its annual Business Climate Survey, this year Forbes magazine included a new category: cost of doing business. Orange County ranked 129th out of 150 metropolitan areas, behind such top-ranked areas as Tulsa, Okla. and Omaha, Neb.
Yes, other factors are at work. Those places don't have beaches, mountains and a balmy climate.

State and local officials have yet to realize how much their high-tax, high-regulation policies are hurting the business climate in California. Some businesses already have left and more are considering it. Here are some of the troubling signs we've been monitoring:This sounds good for Texas.

No. It's a polite way of saying they're Democrats.
...which is basically the same thing, when push comes to shove.

Just wait until they pass that law reqiring businesses to hire tranvestites or face $100,000 fines. That should really help attract businesses.

We're screwed for sure, but we have to hit more of a bottom before there is a big conservative conversion over here.

Exactly. Californians wanted to be led by a proven loser, so let nature take its course.

It's going to take a really hardheaded Republican or even a Libertarian to steer this Titanic around the iceberg. No wishy washy Pete Wilson type, or even Bill Simon would have the requisite balls. Arnie? Maybe if James Cameron would write the script...

Wait till all the businesses have been hit till they bleed to death and then Orange County seniors will get a dose of the liberal ideas that has infected the area. They will have to pay the taxes that are lost by the exit of business. The invisable hand of economics is always waiting.
