...a now-notorious column that appeared on September 13 2001: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."A column written the day after the 9/11 attacks in which 3,000 innocent American passersby, including Ann's friend Barbara Olsen, were murdered by Islamic terrorists....
Scumbags like Freedland are always quick to bring this up, yet it never seems to help them make their point. It's become a tired gimmick of the lazy critic. Of course, whatever "point" they are trying to make is usually silly and nebulous to begin with.

Katie Couric? America's sweetheart? Only in West Wing America.

So you let a lot of it go, even when her views tend towards the obnoxious and her journalistic methods towards the pretty appalling. It's not just the factual slips - she cites Bobby Kennedy's assassin, Sirhan Sirhan, as an early example of Islamic terrorism, even though he was a Christian.
This isn't an error. Sirhan Sirhan was a Palestinian Arab trained for three years to kill RFK. His 'christianity' was used as a cover. Sirhan supposedly killed RFK because of his support for Israel, more likely it was Fidel Castro who backed it. The "Sirhan was a Christian arguement" is proven leftist propaganda showing that Mr. Freedland is indeed a limp-wristed, European, communist.
Sheikh Rahman in a conversation with one of his followers and over heard by FBI eavesdroppers.Slow down; slow down a little bit, the sheik cautioned, whispering for fear the FBI was bugging his apartmentwhich it was. The one who killed Kennedy was trained for three years. It was never made clear in later court testimony which assassination the sheik was talking about. (Wall Street Journal; 11/26/2001; p. A6.)

So Ann has a book coming out in June as well. A little competition for MZ. Hillary. You're way to generous in your comparison. This will be like a T-ball batter vs Sammy Sosa. Ann will destroy the Hildebeaste!

Thank you. After seeing his photo I think if I were Freedland I would refrain from referring to the great Rush Limbaugh as a butterball.

You bet. She's got brains and beauty.

Why do you insult Ann Coulter? That's no insult. That's the very thing I thought while I was reading this guy's piece. There's nobody in the middle when it comes to Ayn Rand. You either hate her or you love her. Liberals hate Ayn Rand. Liberals hate Ann Coulter the same way. No middle ground. You mention Ayn Rand and they come out of the woodwork here and elsewhere to insult her. You mention Ann Coulter same thing- people loose control of their rational facility.
I think you proved this person's point (and one of the author's as well).

I don't know Hillary has probably got the "lawyers book club" to buy up the first 500,000, no way Hillary will take any book bombs.

btw, where you w/us at the '98 MFJ in DC? Watched it on C-Span and fought off the DU trolls that tried to invade the forum in the absense of Jim Rob and a huge chunk of the regulars. Reminds me of clarity and Connie and ONLWU.
It was a time and what a time it was.

One thing comes through very clearly in this article: the author, Jonathan Freedland, is in love with Anne. I must say, I can not blame him. She is such a babe!

that with my "profile" page (which has been there a loooong time, unchanged), no one.. .NO one... pinged me to this article. Though it was obviously a "hit piece", it was a very accurate portrayal of AnnC.
I'm even going to add a link to it by way of explanation.

As an Englishman, I find the idea that Europeans should be taught to carry guns and say what they like rather insulting. We have on average 30 gun deaths per year in the UK and violent crime is falling, and I for one wish to keep it that way. Gun ownership here is definitely a BAD idea. As for free speech, we have it! Whether we like what is said or not, all parties have the right to existance and access to media. (Note the recent BNP gains in local elections, Sinn Fein winning seats in Parliament etc) Given that the US outlawed Communist party membership for decades, I am interested to know just what idea of "saying what we like" you intend to teach us poor, oppressed Europeans!

As a Brit, you need to know that "Bible-bashing" is a phrase in common use here, and the British audience for the Guardian will understand what it means! It is used to describe any Christian fundamentalists or zealots, and I suppose it means the same as your "Bible-thumping". George Galloway is the Scottish MP you are referring to.

As an Englishman, I find the idea that Europeans should be taught to carry guns and say what they like rather insulting. You're insulted?? By an outsider lecturing you on how you should run your country with the implication that your culture and values are somehow morally inferior?? Gee, who would have thunk it.
As for free speech, we have it!
I was thinking of France and the Brigitte Bardot matter.

Eric Alterman in What Liberal Media? quotes her calling the former first lady 'pond scum' and 'white trash', while terming the late Pamela Harriman a 'whore', and Gloria Steinem a 'deeply ridiculous figure' who 'had to sleep' with a rich liberal to fund Ms magazine. She is, she was, she is, and she did.
