If the object is to create reasonable doubt, "concocting" a false cult by the defense attorney should be a crime.

This attorney sounds wacko and it makes me just a little curious as to whom he really is. Anyone local know anything about him??

Is Scott Peterson still using Mark Geragos? This guy makes you want to take a shower to get that icky feeling off everytime he talks. He is one of those lawyers that will do or say anthing for money. IMHO if a lawyer uses lies to get his client off he ought to be disbarred. There is ZERO evidence of a cult. That is unless you think Scott Peterson is the cult.

Mark Geragos, Scott's lawyer, is a white version of Johnny Cochran. He's a high-profile attorney, having just defended Winona Ryder in her famous shoplifting trial. He'll turn the trial into a public spectacle a la the OJ Simpson trial by floating 'alternative theories' in an attempt to create reasonable doubt.

The tactic of using a high-profile lawyer like Geragos may backfire on Scott. I live in a town about the size of Modesto with a similar population makeup (conservative, middle class, no bullsh!t types). I was told by a friend who's a city attorney that the worst thing you can do in a town like this is to bring in a "New York Lawyer" to defend you--apparently the local judges see it as a 'city lawyer trying to teach the hayseeds a thing or two'.

Geragos became a media darling when he defended Susan McDougal against Ken Starr. He also felt free to come on TV and outright lie about the circumstances surrounding the drunk driving arrest of Roger Clinton. As you can see, he finds the sleaziest of people to defend.

Geragos slides out from under his rock whenever someone guilty is famous enough for him to represent. He represented Susan McDougal, of whitewater fame, and Geraldo and other Clinton suck-ups gave him all of the air time and ink that he wanted. Interestingly, I believe Ms. Gloria Allred was on the same side at that time.
