[history]
May 17, 2003 -- The gal pal of disgraced ex-New York Times reporter Jayson Blair said she had no role in helping him in his deception.
"I was in no way aware nor did I assist Jayson in anything that contributed to his current problems," said Zuza Glowacka, a 23-year-old clerk who was a temp for The Times.

This rather concise article has some nuggets in it.
The girlfriend "had no part in the deception" according to herself, Jayson, the union and the Times itself. Yet she's been "on leave" since May 2.
Hmmmmmm.
The out-of-work Jayson is now revealed to have an agent. Talks of a TV tabloid interview have broken off. Does his agent feel that Jayson is worth more and more money now and is looking for a more lucrative deal?
Or is Jayson getting secret offers to keep his mouth shut about any inner NYT secrets? After all, the Times is powerful enough to quietly find Blair a nice-paying sinecure somewhere else in the country in return for his silence.
This affair is not over by a long shot. One can only imagine the frantic negotiations, meetings and deals going on behind the scenes.
Hmmmmm.

I gues it all depends upon what the meaning of employee is. Weasel words.

"Glowacka's mom, Ewa Zadrzynska, was a close friend of Krystyna Stachowiak, the wife of Times executive editor Howell Raines.
Glowacka has been on leave from The Times since May 2, the Guild said."
Oh ... I was wondering how a "temp" employee is given leave.

I wonder how Blair was able to come up with the scratch to pay a $3,800 bill to American Express the other day.
To: aristeides
Perhaps he borrowed from Peter to reimburse Paul, eg. accepted one of those "no/low-interest carried balance transfer" credit cards. Still, $3,800 isn't much money. He probably earned that in two weeks at the Times. And let's not forget -- he was "compensated" by the NYT for all those phony "travel expenses." He might have used those fraudulently obtained proceeds to pay off AE.
