"These kids have done what they are supposed to do," he said. "They have gotten the credits they need. They have done community service work. This test is damaging kids psychologically, because there is too much weight to it."
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush yesterday said black leaders' threat to initiate a boycott against the state's major industries will not undermine his support for a requirement that all high school students pass a test to graduate.

1) Why the HELL did the Florida House try to let dummies who can't get through the FCAT into community colleges? The high schools who didn't teach them should be paying for the remediation courses to get them to graduate--that money shouldn't be coming out of the community college budgets for students that deserve to be there learning higher concepts than high school level crap. Colleges in Texas are testing on their own because they don't even trust the high school exit exams.

2) I PRAY the NAACP and Florida's other liberal black groups organize a boycott. As long as they start with ending the Black College Weekend in Daytona and the Heritage Bowl in Tampa while the FCAT is in place, I'll be happy. Knowing those events won't be screwing up traffic and producing a skyrocketing crime rate in those areas will be a dream come true. Hell, Daytona might start a ballot initiative to get FCAT into the Florida Constitution. If it's the same as "freaknik," Galveston and Atlanta would like to be in that boycott.

If they can't pass a test that requires only 40% correct answers, I wonder what kind of scores they make on the SAT? My guess is they have someone else take the SAT for them.It would support the claim that blacks get extra points for the color of their skin and not the content of their knowledge, on their college applications.

Oklahoma's got some hotel room vacancies this weekend if they are planning on running away. Maybe the Rat controlled state leg. will even pass a resolution of support for your cowardice.

Many students who are in jeopardy of not graduating have already been accepted to colleges and some have received athletic scholarships, Mr. Curry said, which shows they have already succeeded on some academic level. Okay. They got straight A's in gym, so they are obviously qualified for Harvard or Brown and a cub reporter position at the NY Times?
To: nopardons
I see you had the same thought as me. Do you support them becoming NY Times Cub Reporters also? I do. They are qualified to help bring down the grey lady.

This is a perfect example of what our president calls the soft bigotry of low expectations.

"He is punishing students who do things right," said Bishop Victor T. Curry of the New Birth Baptist Church in Miami, who is leading the boycott threat.Yet another moron heard from....

I heard they can take it 5 times and they only have to make a 40 on it to pass. Here in Texas our kids have to pass the TASS test to graduate. They get several chances to take it. It is an 8th grade level test. I don't know how many kids pass or fail it, but my kids all thought it was easy. They passed it in 10th grade. No one is whining here about having to pass the TASS test. We do complain about all the time spent teaching to that test, instead of actually teaching new material. They waste a lot of time doing that, when they could be teaching math, science, history, English, etc.

This is a perfect example of race pimps acting as enablers for failure. "Protecting" children who have no skills to compete in the real world simply abandons them to the margins, where they will live out their days whining about the unfairness of it all and blaming their failures on the White Man.

LOL.....I see people of marginal mental skills walking around in the streets with badly worded signs chanting slogans in support of being stupid. Kind of like the anti-tax cut demonstration in New York.

The NAACP has clearly become the heaviest mill stone around the necks of America's blacks...
They attack everything that brings standards of accomplishment or constraints on damaging behavior --- and ignore the ravages that have destroyed the black families in America..
The NAACP has done far more harm to blacks than the KKK could ever have dreamed to inflict..

Boohoo. Parents need to take responsibility and stop blaming the Govt for their failure to teach their children, whether teaching them in education, or teaching them that learning is good. And the teachers need to get of their fat union butts and do what they are supposed to do.
Let me give you a sample question from these "tests" they are crying over:
"Does the sun set in the East, or the West?"
I can see why the blacks are crying over how unfair life is.
If you aren't familiar, the black caucus of Florida also marched on the Governor for gettig rid of affirmative action, and this is tied into that.
To: self
" ... 40% passing grade and multiple take-over opportunities "
Well let's move the pass fail to 20% for blacks. Is that what they want? Or how about 'if they just sit there'.
Sometimes I wonder if these so-called black leaders think through what they are asking for. The end result, look at it as an employer. A black HS grad walks in with a high school diploma that takes 20% to pass. You think you are going to hire them? What about black leaders challenging their population to score 90% or better on the standard tests. Now that same black grad comes in looking for a job. You going to hire which one.
Why isn't it that everyone strives for the highest grades possible. Oh sorry that would take studying and deication. So unfair to have to spend time on learning.
If when I was in school I scored a 40% on anything, I would have been grounded for the year, or until the grades got back up to C or better. Discipline is what aloows the student to graduate. Not rap music.
