France accuses US of skulduggery May 17 2003 Paris
France has launched a diplomatic counter-offensive against America, accusing the Bush Administration of orchestrating a vengeful plot to discredit President Jacques Chirac's Government.
In a letter delivered to senior US Government officials and members of Congress, Jean-David Levitte, the French ambassador to Washington, claimed that France was the victim of an "organised campaign of disinformation" and demanded that it must cease.
Attached to the letter was a two-page list of press reports over the past nine months that the French insist were fabrications based on deliberate leaks from American officials.
"We're fed up with all these allegations, which have been denied over and over yet are still being used by some media," a spokesman for the French embassy said. "This has to stop. That letter will show examples of cases where obviously there was a very twisted idea behind those leaks."
The letter marks a new low in US-French relations, which plummeted after Mr Chirac's declaration in March that he would veto any additional United Nations resolution on Iraq.
Mr Bush is due to visit France next month for the G8 summit at Evian. There were rumours that he was so angry with Mr Chirac that he would stay in Switzerland rather than spend a night on Gallic soil. This was denied by the White House.

And Chriaq and crew don't think that the French media creates an "organized campaign of disinformation" against America?? Or is it that France can dish it out but is unable to take it? Even when it is the truth.
The French are doing a fine job of sullying their own reputation on the world stage. It's a pleasure to watch.

skulduggery?Who taught the French a new word?
It's time for Bush to release evidence. We've heard of the unnamed U.S. diplomatic sources in Syria about the Euro passports for Iraqi bigwigs. Also, the UK's Telegraph found those documents revealing French treachery. And French supplied weapons have reportedly knocked down one, maybe two U.S. aircraft. It's time to take off the gloves and let Chirac and crew get slapped royally and stop the rumors. Either stop the rumors or admit they're no more than that.

Well we've been digging up lots of skulls lately, skulls buried by France's good friend Saddam Hussein, so perhaps the statement is true.

Jacques Chirac needs no help in that matter. His actions are alone discrediting his government.

I asked a liquor store owner in an elite Mountain ski resort if they had noticed a decline in people buying French wines. She said, maybe a little bit, but so many of their patrons are international, that they don't get caught up in boycotts.
She said that they are having a hard time getting French imported liquors, it seems that customs is taking a unusually long time to inspect the products.
I said Good, we should be buying American products anyway.
She was shocked to say the least.

the lying, duplicitous, back-stabbing, French weasals have the utter gall to say the US is doing "skulduggery"???!!!

Apparently france doesn't know what "a free press" means. Neither the American nor British government has any control over what is or is not printed. I know the weenies don't understand that, they live under government controled press and are too dumb to recognize it.
