Man, that picture (the landing approach) made me pucker up. I remember flying over a carrier and thinking, "hell, I could probably set this down on there." From this angle, it looks different.

There was an earlier thread concerning an article that discussed how women seeing this picture are suddenly noticing how Bush is a "hottie". One woman on this thread actually said she likes Bush, but that female suffrage should be repealed immediately if this is all it takes to get women to vote for someone.
I just showed this picture to my girlfriend, who hadn't seen it before. She also was very impressed and agreed that this alone will cause many women to vote for Bush. The female mind ... :)

I might add, I've been told by an old flight deck hand that the most dangerous jobs in the world are on a carrier flight deck. Hubris? I dunno. He was steely-eyed and dead serious when he told me that.

On a purely actuarial basis, it's probably not.
However, I'm told that it has the lowest on-the-job INJURY rate, because almost all of the "injuries" are fatal.
