I might add, I've been told by an old flight deck hand that the most dangerous jobs in the world are on a carrier flight deck. Hubris? I dunno. He was steely-eyed and dead serious when he told me that.

On a purely actuarial basis, it's probably not.

However, I'm told that it has the lowest on-the-job INJURY rate, because almost all of the "injuries" are fatal.
