West Wing finale..."President" Sheen invokes 25th. Hastert look-alike John Goodman takes over.

In case you all missed it, the West Wing ended its season last night, and obviously Aaron Sorkin has been smoking 'shrooms again. Sorkin has also left the show, as writer and creative force, but he's leaving his peculiarly distorted vision of political reality for the next group of writers to untangle. If you're interested, let me summarize events for you...

I've never seen 24... I stopped watching when they took Muslim terrorists and revealed (so realistically) that the REAL evildoers were in fact white Oil executives using the peaceful Muslims to raise the price of oil to enrich themselves. Just like the real world right? More like in Tim Robbins' fantasies...shame on FOX. It's about time Rupert puts a Roger Ailes in the Entertainment division to keep the Socialists at bay.

No I won't...lol. I just don't see Hastert that way, but perhaps it is because I ususally see him with President Bush and they are usually in a jolly mood. I don't often see him apart from that.
I agree with you about the motive for the casting, however. They are setting up for the fall and the election campaign.

"WHat did Matthew Perry play? I never envisioned him to lower himself to play a conservative (in a good light, might I add)."
He played a new attorney in the White House Counsel's office, hired despite being a Republican (following in the footsteps of Ainsley Hayes, who left the show when the actress got a role on CSI: MIAMI). He did a good job, very low-key as the character was introduced, patiently handling the animosity of the lib staffers (which made him look good and them look petty), then building in intensity as he unraveled the scope of the problem with the Vice-President. I hope he will make appearances in future.

I saw the show three times. One time they had the president go into a profanity-laced tirade to this Dr. Laura-like character who refused to stand when the president entered the room. After demonstrably stating (and not subtlely) that the power of the state is greater than the power of God and browbeating the character into submission, she woefully stood up, and invalidated her beliefs. That was it for me.

I dunno what Matthew Perry's political leaning are, nor do I care as long as he keeps them to himself. But I do enjoy his acting on Friends and in the chick flick Fools Rush In. If he were to appear again, I may check it out.

People watch this stuff?

her Secret Service agent, Molly, is killed by the terrorists.Only a drug-abusing scumbag like Aaron Sorkin could think up that scene and get it played on national TV. "A Secret Service agent killed by terrorists" Good Riddance Mr. Sorkin!

That's what I said. I clearly stated they were here DECADES AGO. Close ties means current ties.

I didn't find it funny at all.
All women tend to be sensitive about people judging us and other mostly on our looks.
He had the audacity to do that in a national forum she had no such membership to.
He couldn't criticize the truth she told about Bill Clinton, so he took the cheap and chicken way like most libs - mock her looks.
Not unlike what they tried to do to Katherine Harris after the election in 2000. When you can't attack them for deads, go for the cheap shot.
Do you still think they are funny?

SSSSHHHH!!!!! WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!
OBVIOUSLY THE PLAN IS TO NOT "OUT" HIS CONSERVATISM BEFORE HE DECIDES TO RUN!
SHEESH!

I don't see any.
One of his biggest peace-loving fans shot up CWRU last Friday.

Yes, it did seem "close." Although the Goodman character seemed to be able to definitely exude "control."
I thought Goodman made the GOP look good! I only caught the last scene, when he shows up and tells a dithering Sheen, "Mr. President, you're relieved." It came off like an ADULT finally is taking over the premises.

I don't watch TV very much--only cable news if I do. I don't go to movies--kid's movie once every few years. I listen to talk radio and read news from the internet.
You're probably one of the best-informed people in America! (and I'm not being sarcastic)

No wonder she has been dubbed by some critics/commentators as the Lady Macbeth of 24. I refer to her as Black Hillary.....24 is my must-see show each week. Only one more show to go:( Lots of loose ends to tie up too.
