The French have the freedom to say that the US Government painted a cruise missle to look like a plane and send it crashing into the Pentagon but they are not permitted to make opinionated statements that are not politically correct.

The Hollywood Left can't be expected to stand up for Brigette Bardot AND Michael Moore and the Dixie Chicks with regards to free speech. I guess they have a French boycott of their own going on.

This, really pisses me off.....because nothing is further from the truth.

Which is why it is being said.

One might suggest cultivating a thicker skin and less sensitivity. But then I come from an era with a different outlook on mere words.

She's in good company. The eminent scholar Bernard Lewis also was sued (and convicted) in France for his opinions.

Ahhh, YES! I'm curious to see how the ravages of time have treated the fair Bardot --- . She is 68, but does she still look great?

She says that gays are fairground freaks, teachers arrive at work with greasy hair wearing disgusting jeans and muddy trainers, and that "the professional unemployed" don't even want to work illegally.

If only France had more citizens like Bardot!

If only America had more citizens like Bardot: unafraid to speak out against the encroachment on society of a filthy, worthless segment of population.

Is it true that in the UK they send spies to restaurants and public places to listen in to conversations to hear whether 'anti-minority' statements are being made?

"Police in Gloucester, England, are cracking down on racism by entering restaurants in disguise to listen for bigoted conversation. In the first week of "Operation Napkin," one man was arrested for unacceptable table talk. Another was briefly detained for mimicking an Indian waiter, but was let go because police decided his behavior wasn't serious enough to warrant prosecution. Maybe children can help out the police by becoming amateur speech cops at home. Columnist John O'Sullivan, former editor of National Review, points out that an official 1999 British government report proposed criminalizing racist remarks made in the family home."

Looks like this was a one time operation in 2000.

Could be worse, Some figure everyone in the western US wear cowboy hats, ride horses, and fight wild indians all the time.

Don't forget that all western US residents (like me) all talk with a Texas twang, according to the rest of the world and Hollywood.

No offense to Texans, of course. We love the way ya'll talk.

So much for liberté, egalité et fraternité.

How can you be libre and not have freedom of expression?

Apparantly they did do a sting operation like that a while back in an Indian place.

Here's some examples:

Police tackle race hate 'upsurge'

Surrey Police Dep't- Diversity Directorate (I'm not making this up)

German faces jail for 'ironic' remark

RE #26

Don't be so sure yet. She is a rabid PETA activist long before PETA became fashionable in U.S..

You could agree with her on many points. But remember that she has her downside, too.

...I have a extremely thick skin, mind you...but the thing is...everytime I have mentioned, that I am from Europe, the response I got back was the like...and I quote "Why the European Women do not shave their armpits/beavers and why you guy's do not use deodorant" close quote.

Everytime I am forced to 'splain, that the statement is not true...OH well, whatever....

Mmmmm! Interesting, I can think of a lot of things I might ask someone from Europe, but somehow those items have never been among them.

I must be git'n old or sump'n.
