He can't put his OWN words into context; unless Ann Coulter or Michael Savage and now -- Chuck Baldwin write it first, he's at a loss.

The extension bill that Schumer et al put up in the Senate does a lot more than renew the current law's sunset. It makes it permanent. Bush said he would support a renewal of the current bill i.e. one which would again expire in another 10 years, not one that will never expire.
It also adds another more provision. This one will ban the import of high capacity magazines even if they were manufactured overseas before the ban (a current loophole). This is an enactment of another gun control law, which Bush is opposed to. He has said he supports the enforcement of current law and not the creation of new ones. Since this provision is a new gun law, he can legitimately oppose this bill for that reason as well.
He now has two reasons to not sign the Senate version and still keep his promise to sign an extension of the current law if it arrives on his desk.

I asked you to put them in context.
I asked if you support the ban.

Either post em or don't plain for all to see what you are doing.

And I asked you at 6:43 EDT to post ALL the lies you claim I've posted. And you still haven't. As usual. You're only trying to divert attention away from yourself.
I told you I've already discussed the weapons ban with people whose opinion I value. You aren't one of them.
And Amelia just gave you some links.

White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said yesterday the president "continues to believe" that the gun ban was "reasonable" and should remain law. But Mr. LaPierre of the NRA said reports of the issue causing a rift between the president and one of his most loyal political allies have been overblown. "I'm sure that the anti-firearms senators and congressmen and their allies in the national media would love to make this about President Bush and the NRA," Mr. LaPierre said. "But the truth is, it's going to be resolved in the Congress. "We're going to try to make sure that they never get this phony bill passed into law again," he said.

I'm with you, Warthog. Everyone who wants to renew this ban should be recall or voted out of office.

Do you have a direct quote and a source for these supposed comments by the new NRA president?

I saw him on one of the cable shows the other day, and honestly, I cannot remember which one.
But I know that some others have heard the same thing on NPR.

Thanks for the link, though I didn't see any reference what-so-ever to the comment you attributed to the president of the NRA earlier in this thread.
