Moslem Terrorist Bombing in Chechnya
yahoo news | 5/14/03 | philosophy123

Posted on 05/14/2003 6:15:39 AM PDT by philosofy123

Moslem terrorists driving a truck loaded with explosive into a government building in Chechnya killed 37 people, and injured 300.

As I looked in my local paper yesterday, I was surprised that the news about the Moslem terrorists attack on the same day in Russia, and our media failed to report the connection. Ben Laden agents are working in Chechnya, and their timing of car bombs in Saudi Arabia, and Russia is important news. How is it that we are focusing ONLY on the bombing in Saudi Arabia, and ignoring the bombing in Russia? Is it possible that our media thinks that the life of 10 Saudis is more important than the life of 30 Russians, even if they are both the victims of Islamic fanatics from Al Qaeda?

I am very puzzled as of how news get to be news, and how the simultaneous timing of car bombing in Russia and Saudi Arabia became insignificant. If we are not showing any sympathy to the loss of Russian lives to the Barbaric Moslems, how are we going to expect their sympathy to the loss of life of New Yorkers, or Israelis?

It got to be an explanation! I am just too upset to find it? Can you help explain this story? By the way, please, if you are not prepared to call the Moslem Palestinian suicide bombers REBELS who are entitles to kill innocent Israelis for their cause, then do not call the Moslem from Chechnya REBELS, who are entitles to kill innocent Russians. Thanks

My initial reaction is to ask if the Russians released the info yesterday or today. Yahoo news has it dated today.

A poll shortly after 9/11 showed that more then 1/5 of Russians felt satisfaction that America got attacked.

Can you find numbers like that from Americans towards Russians?

Putin was buddy, buddy with Saddam and still is friends with Arafat. As a private citizen I feel for Russians (I have always paid close attention to the Chechen conflict), however I have 0 sympathy for the russian gov't.

I've been wondering the same thing. They were reported almost simultaneously in the media wires, but one made press and the other was not reported widely. my only guess (and it is a guess)as to why it wasnt reported is because the Chechnya blast apparently did not kill Americans, and it would be easy to confuse it with the military actions that have been going on for years to someone who didnt know any better in the media.

Looking at the overview, it was basically a coordinated attack in two seperate countries using the same tactics.

Al Qaeda is definitely not going away any time soon.

You probably could. Also, which Russians? A fifth of Russians moslem and about a fifth are communists...thankfully geriatric communists. Hell, probably at least 1/10th of Americans were happy too.

Bush is buddy buddy with the House of Saud that has sponsored Islamic terror in Russia for 20 years. As for Arafat...guess that is why Putin has refused to meet with him on Arafat's last 3 visits...so buddy buddy has you put it.

I too, am very saddened by the loss for Russia. It is crucial we all stick together to fight terrorism. The unity after 9/11 for America was heart warming, from around the world. We need to remember that.

Possibly is Saudia Arabia news broke first and media resources were focused on covering the story. I wonder what the time difference was between the attacks was? I guess there was extensive coverage on Saudia Arabia because it was a direct attack on American interests abroad.
That does not lessen how sad most of us feel for the attack on the Russian Government building. We all cradle and gently rock our babies the same way, all around the world.

How many people are surprised when somehing happens in Kashmir anymore? Or Pakistan? Or Israel? I think we have become desensitized to bombings in areas that are known hotbeds for conflict.

I don't think there will be any "buddy buddy" from Bush towards the Saudis after yesterday's fiasco. (And I'm not sure there was beforehand.) Not only did the US ask for more protection for those compounds but it was reported last night that the guards at that particular compound were not armed.

That does not make it right. We can choose to think differently and show our compassion. We need more friends not enemies. You become real friends with someone when you show great empathy in times of trouble. Those bonds are bonds that forge friendships far greater than the friction that can come from giving money.

Remember, since it is so easy to forget, to open our hearts to the innocent and be tough on the perpetrators.

Pay attention to the fact that Putin/Russian government has/had good relations with those Arab/Muslim leaders who did not support Chechen separatists, KLA etc ... For example Iranian was asking Russian Muslims to be loyal citizens and cooperated with Russians in support of Northern Alliance. Iraqi regime was supporting Russian friends Serbs against KLA and NATO.

It appears that Russian policy is quite simple - "who is not against us is with us".

My puzzlement was basically to the way our media failed to link the international Islamic fanatics. The simultaneous car bombs was a very good reason to report on the two stories. However in a country that pride itself on the free press, and with thousands of media outlets, and journalists, there has to be a conspiracy that not even one single reporter talked about the International Islamic Terrorism, or the Al Qaeda connection to both the Saudi bombing and the Russian bombing.

My theory is: We may be reserving the right to back the Islamic terrorists in Chechnya against the Russians as we did before. Hence, we continue to call them “rebels”! Having an American Sympathy with the Russian may be difficult to reverse if our government decided to turn against the Russians in the Future? This is simply my speculation since I have no other explanation.

Moslems must demand reform of that barbaric religion, otherwise forget about being accepted as part of the human race!

Most of our media want to be "right" about the war being "wrong".

They barely mentioned Australia being in the war either. I think I heard any mention of it once and we were their from the get up.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
