The NEA Teachers Union and other liberal groups (including the DNC) are urging members to CALL CONGRESS TODAY with a NO TAX CUTS message.
Their toll free number to use is 1-888-280-6279
If 888-280-6279 is busy, call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.

I plan to call and ask for HIGHER TAX CUTS.
To: Gopher Broke
I suggest we call for raising taxes on the New York Times and other liberal do-gooders. No reason they should be spared from making sacrifices while they're calling for the rest of us to shoulder an even bigger burden of supporting the maw of a government whose appetite appears to have no limits.

I made a note to myself last night to call or write again about supporting the Pres. tax cut plan. Just waiting for the offices to open.

Called Senator Corzine and suggested that the dems holding up the vote on the Estrada and Owens nomination were beginning to look the Texas democrats who ran away.
Then told him that by voting against the President's tax cuts he was only going to cause McGreevy to sink further in the polls.

I can hear the calls now:
"Hello Congress...... I'm calling in support of you wasting more of my hard earned dollars, as you know, you do a much better job of making decisions that directly effect my life and I will be very happy to vote for whatever candidate wins the democratic nomination, because you see, I'm a blind lemming who does whatever you ask of me, despite the fact that I'm being strummed like a cheap guitar"
It's hard to fathom how these RATS manage to get all the votes they do, simply unbelievable

Here's what Terry told me to say;
Key Points to Make
When you call and email your members of Congress, be sure to mention the following important points:
The tax cuts in the Bush plan overwhelmingly benefit the wealthiest sliver of Americans, providing little relief to most working families.
The Bush plan does nothing to help states confront their worst fiscal crisis since World War II. States have been forced to cut vital programs -- for education, health care, homeland security, and more -- and even raise taxes on working families.
The irresponsible Bush tax scheme will create enormous new debts for the next generation.
Democrats in Congress have introduced a real stimulus plan that will get our economy moving again, with targeted tax breaks, aid for cash-strapped states and small businesses, and an extension of unemployment benefits.
You can make a difference by calling and emailing your members of Congress today.
Click here to get contact information for your Senators and Representatives and let them know that you oppose the irresponsible Bush tax scheme and support the sensible, effective Democratic stimulus plan.
Sincerely,
Terence R. McAuliffe
Chairman

Both Maine Senators were called this Morning to express my support for President Bush's FULL tax cut, and in opposition to the extension of the so-called "Assault Weapons Ban".
In the Portland area, phone numbers for their Portland Offices (207) are:
Sen. Susan COLLINS: 780-3575
Sen. Olympia SNOWE: 874-0883
Having seen something about a DNC ordered "call-in barrage" for today (05/14/03) I was a little surprised to have gotten through so easily. Both Staffers answered on the first ring and were very nice.
I suppose that if anyone has a problem getting through to their Senator's Washington Offices, you could try calling some of the State Regional Offices, which the Dems and NEA may not have given out to their usefull idiot underlings. By the time the DU-ers find this, it may be too late for them to get the word out before we manage to get our word in via the "back door", do you suppose?
I wouldn't have bothered calling today, but the Senate is supposedly hearing the tax-cut issue today.
If enough FReepers post their State's Senators Home State Office numbers, we could do some creative cross-calling and really get their attention, eh? Of course they will only send a response to Resident Constituents, but they might get the message one way or another.
I, for one, would not mind it if our own Sen. SNOWE (and you know how she stands on the issue) gets calls from Americans all over the WORLD in regards to our position on letting those who earn the money have a little choice (She is very "Pro-Choice", you know) over how they spend or invest some of it. Wouldn't mind at all.
Another potential factor; I suspect that most of the libs will be provided a "script" to rattle off to whoever takes their call. By Noon, they will have memorized it (and be really sick of hearing it repeated).
Now, most FReepers I know tend to be a little more creative, articulate, and individual. When the Office helpers hear a caller speaking from an active mind and heart with passion, humor, and common sense - willing to be interactive rather than just reading off of a script - they might perk up and take notice. Perhaps even remember.
I don't know if that amounts to anything.... but it might.

I called my Senators and Congressman today...folks, these guys tell me they are getting a LOT of calls from the leftwing groups, opposing tax cuts.
Please call 888-280-6279, toll free, and tell your Senators and Congressman you want HIGHER TAX CUTS.
Dont let leftwingers out-FREEP us!!
To: Gopher Broke
If the rats think that the tax cuts are SO BAD, why not let them happen, then (supposedly) they'll fail and then GW Bush will look bad & the rats can exploit that fact?COULD IT BE THAT THE RATS KNOW IT'LL STIMULATE THE SAGGING ECONOMY?
