BUSH BLUNDERS ARE HARD TO KEEP UP WITH
By Pastor Chuck Baldwin May 12, 2003 NewsWithViews.com The foibles and follies of this administration are too numerous to count. With the exception of Monica Lewinsky, they rival anything in the previous administration. Of course, most neocons refuse to notice. Therefore, this column will also be ignored. However, for those who are interested in the truth, here are some of the latest examples of Bush's blunders: *Bush threw his support behind a liberal Republican who supports increased taxes, abortion and additional gun control to be a Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate. That man is Illinois Governor Jim Edgar. Thankfully, Edgar decided to not seek the nomination, but that didn't stop Bush from doing his best to send another liberal to Washington, D.C. Next, watch for Bush to do the same thing in California. *Bush continues his support for the Clinton-Gore gun ban enacted back in 1994. Despite objections from gun groups, including the National Rifle Association, the President is determined to re-institute the so-called "assault weapons" ban that is scheduled to sunset next year. So much for Bush being "pro-gun." *As Commander-In-Chief, President Bush has the authority to establish guidelines and policies for our nation's military. When Bill Clinton became President, he implemented the infamous "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing homosexuals to serve in the U.S. armed forces. Bush has continued that policy. Clinton also introduced women to front-line combat roles. And true to form, Bush continues this reprehensible Clinton policy. In fact, one would be extremely hard-pressed to find any Clinton policy that Bush has reversed! I can't think of a single one. *NAFTA and GATT came into existence early in the Clinton administration. Bush continues those polices and even wants to expand them. He has proposed expanding this agreement throughout the Americas and is now calling for a Mideast Free Trade agreement. Say good-bye to more American jobs; say hello to more foreign goods and to more foreign workers. *Bush is determined to oversee the creation of a Palestinian state. After sending American soldiers to fight and die in an undeclared war against Iraq, Bush wants to create another such country by giving the P.L.O. radicals their own nation. Clinton wanted to do the same thing, of course, but was shouted down by conservatives. Today, those same conservatives sit mute and dumb as Bush sets about to finish what Clinton started. *Speaking of finishing what Clinton started, Bush successfully created the Department of Homeland Security and the totalitarian-laced USA Patriot Act. There is an even more egregious version currently worming its way into law. All this was the brainchild of Bill Clinton, of course. However, he could not accomplish his pernicious plans because conservatives and Republicans would not support them. Now they do. *Bush is likely to invoke Executive Privilege in order to continue the cover-up about what he and other top government leaders knew prior to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Some thirty days prior to the attacks, Bush reportedly received a CIA Intelligence Report which warned, "The attack will be spectacular and designed to inflict mass casualties against U.S. facilities or interests. Attack preparations have been made. Attack will occur with little or no warning." More details are leaking out almost daily. A Democratic Presidential contender, Senator Bob Graham of Florida, says Bush knows much more than he is telling and is demanding that the administration come clean about what really took place. Before that happens, however, Bush will claim Executive Privilege and the truth will be covered up once again. |
You've got to vote for the candidate that MORE CLOSELY resembles your political leanings. When you vote for a whacko like Puchannan, you risk ballsing it up even worse. It's a two-party system.
I'm sorry that Puchannan never had a hope of being a viable candidate, but you guys have got to let it go. Your constant inflexible harping makes you sound just as irrational as the extreme left. How embarrasing to you, and to all of us, as well. Other people read this site besides just the posters......
Prediction: This is the part where you accuse me of being a liberal (just like Bush), and tell me that I must not love America or the Constitution. Just trying to save you a little typing; I've been watching you beat this same dead horse through the entire thread.
We'll be sure to thank you if your voting for the next Perot puts a true liberal in office.
With a pubbie congress, if algore had tried to pass any of this statist crap, the pubbies would have blocked it, or at least tried to. The way it is now, they just let it slide, cause gw is one of their tribe.
Like you I have some problems with some of what Bush has done. But overall, I believe he has done a fairly good job in very difficult times. Won't say they are as difficult as during Lincoln, but they are difficult.
Back to my orginal comment.......I'm a moderate. If he's pleasing me, then no wonder so many far to the right folks are having problems.
Also, Baldwin points out while I have problems with so many on this site wanting the influence of the Christian Right. While I believe overall in Judeo-Christian values, stuff like what Baldwin is purporting is why I'm not happy with their version of a Theocracy Republic. That's what Baldwin and many of the Christian Right on this site want, even if they don't agree with all the details amongst themselves.
No, that's not what we were told during Clintoon's reign. We were told, by candidates, mainstream and alternative talkradio and fellow freepers that to not stand on the courage of our convictions (meaning having it our way) then we were no better than the liberals. We were told by the above, including the 20 million listener a week giant, that compromise was not good.
I argued for years that's not how politics works. I was told I was wrong. Now I'm being told that's how politics works.
Like Vinny Barerino on Kotter, "I'm so confused!"
Slick Willie, Is that YOU?..."Billie Jeff...You better be working on that AWB, and keep off that Porn site!"
Rush never said that. In fact, it was Rush who first explained the idea of "incrementalism" to his audience.
Yeah, you're confused alright.
Chuck's been bellyaching for six years about Republicans.
Nobody's good enough for him.
Scratch him, and I bet he'd tell you he'd love a theocracy, Chuckie Baldwin-style.
republican yes conservative NO WAY.
Up until this point the author had some valid points. Not that all would agree with him, but some things to be considered nonetheless. At the point he starts speaking about the 'cover-up' we see the tin-foil peeking out under his hat.

1. It's part of a grand strategy that us Cretins don't understand to achieve our goals by embracing the ideals of our intellectual enemies.
2. Do you think a Democrat would be any better?
3. Bush is a great politician and he's pulling the wool over their eyes by taking away their issues.
4. We're too literal, relying on stupid things like the constitution, and too rigid in our beliefs. This is how Bush is going to win. Really.
Did I get the standard Bushbot mantras right?
Well, that is unrealistic advice, IMHO. I am definitely a conservative, and I would like nothing more than to see all the things we talk about here on FR go our way. But I'm also pragmatic enough to know that you have to choose your battles wisely, and take the victories whenever you can. Small victories win the war, and we're definitely moving in the right direction (no pun intended). There's a hell of a lot of people in this country that lean the other way politically, and like it or not, you've got to try to win them over to our side. You can't do that with broad, sweeping changes that goes against what they've always traditionally believed.
I get in plenty of p#$sing matches here with people who take the extreme and inflexible route, who IMHO jeopardize the push toward the Right. Ivariably I am then called a liberal, bacause they are unable/unwilling to step back and try to take a more productive route. It is, I guess a great thing that so many people here are so passionate about the things that really count.
It is not a great thing, however, to spin your wheels and tick off the other people who are on your side. And it sure isn't accomplishing anything toward winning anyone else over, either.
