Drivers should expect more traffic stops for seat belt checks
Kern County drivers can expect more traffic stops for not wearing seat belts.
On Monday, the California Highway Patrol began a two-month crackdown on seat belt use.
Billboard advertising, radio and TV ads will remind people to buckle up with sayings like "Click It or Ticket" and "Remember...or be Remembered."
During a similar crackdown in November, the CHP says it wrote more than 10,000 seat belt tickets statewide in one week, mostly for people who forgot to buckle up for short trips.
The accidents keep happening, said CHP Commissioner Spike Helmick. But the seat belts keep people alive and that's what our job is really all about."
The CHP enforcement campaign will last through Memorial Day weekend and the advertisements will be up through June.
The federal government plans to survey seat belt use in California after the campaign to see if it worked.

And for all the PCs of Kalifornia, illegal aliens will be given a verbal warning (of which not a single word will be understood).

Up here, State Patrol officers have to write 3 of these damn tickets an hour in order to qualify for overtime pay. We have a citizen initiative in the works to rescind this law that was passed last year.

Sure am glad Big Brother and the bureaucrats have taken responsibility for my life, but I kinda wish they'd expend their time and resources on REAL crooks.

In general, all across the country, you should expect more revenue-enhancing ticket writing, and less effective law enforcement.

This is nothing more than a way to pick people's pockets.
They're "serving" themselves and "protecting" their budgets.
Disgusting.

On Monday, the California Highway Patrol began a two-month crackdown on seat belt use. More like on seal belt non-use. "Honest, ossifer, I read about the crackdown on seat belt use and decided to unbuckle it just in case. I didn't want any trouble."
