The New York Times has egg on its face. In a lengthy page one article Sunday, the paper admitted that a reporter, Jayson Blair, had acted as a one-man wrecking crew to The Times' well-earned reputation. He fabricated stories. He plagiarized them. He said he was where he was not. He made countless mistakes of fact - and he was, despite all this, relentlessly promoted. At age 27, he had become a national correspondent for the nation's newspaper of record.

Liberalism long ceased to be about truth and more about whatever it took to look good, reality be damned. Jayson Blair and the New York Times tarnished credibility follows the recent CNN revelations. The rot that has long infected liberalism has finally shown up in the mainstream media, which fortunately has been in decline for sometime. The Blair fallout should help to hasten its demise as an influential opinion maker in this society and none to soon.

Fish wrap? LOL! Toilet paper with NYT written on each square would be nice as well. Is the NYT officially a tabloid now?

Amazing, isn't it, how when affirmative action hits a lefty's personal and professional buttons suddenly preferences become very bad and should be abolished.
Every journalist wishes he or she even had a shot at being a national correspondent for the NYT. When they find out that someone like Blair consistently was promoted ahead of them for what appears to be "diversity" reasons, the pain of reverse discrimination becomes very real.
Suddenly the lefties are clamoring for a meritocracy!

Is the NYT officially a tabloid now?Nope - tabloids have a higher standard of accuracy and ethics than nyt has demonstrated.
The Times is a filthy liberal rag - nothing more, nothing less. I wouldn't line the cat box with it.

I've said this before...but I find it utterly astounding that any young journalist (race aside) given an opportunity of this magnitude(never mind that we don't support the NYTimes) would choose to blow it.
Even if this was an affirmative action hire, I don't believe that he was the only candidate they could come up with...there's something more to this story.
