I've heard all the arguments from the solid repubo/Conservatives on this; they are not entirely wrong, but there are enough one-issue voters to make the difference between Repubos having a 20 year stretch as the majority or a generation of minority status. The latter turn of events would mean the end of the Republic and some very bad times ahead. Visualize President Hillary. That's enough to make me barf for 24 hours straight!

You make a good point about 1 issue voters. At this point it's hard for me to believe that Bush would put himself into this position....unless he knows there is no way it's going to get passed. ??
