Sins of the Son Kim Jong Il's North Korea Is in Ruins, But Why Should That Spoil His Fun?
The Washington Post ^ | 5/11/03 | Peter Carlson

When the Dear Leader was born in a humble log cabin on Korea's sacred Mount Paekdu in 1942, a bright star and a double rainbow appeared in the sky and a swallow descended from heaven to herald the birth of a "general who will rule all the world."

A soldier in the army commanded by the Dear Leader's father, the Great Leader, saw the star and the rainbow and rejoiced, carving a message into a tree: "Oh, Korea, I announce the birth of the Star of Paekdu."

That's the official North Korean version of the birth of Kim Jong Il, the brutal dictator who rules a nation that now taunts the world with its nuclear weapons. Western historians tell a more prosaic tale: Kim Jong Il was born in an army camp in Siberia, where his father, Kim Il Sung, and his tiny band of communist guerrillas had fled to escape the Japanese.

Y'all fon't get it

This is what happens when you put a director/producer in charge of country. Everyone starves while the head guy is doing musicals. First he dates all the chicks in the musical and then dates the guys.

I've known many director/producers and they are all the spawn of Satan

One of the important points to bring from this piece is the difference in how Bush deals with murderous tyrants and how Clinton and his flunkies dealth with murderous tyrants: Bush ordered Saddam to leave Iraq, and then conquered his army, Albright gave him a basketball.

RE #1

I remember that, when the N. Korean nuke crisis first eruped in '94(or '93), NYT was filled with articles showing their reporters' disgust about the available intel on N. Korea. N. Korean intel contains many outlandish stories like ones you can find in this article. These liberal reporters were quick to dismiss them as crude smearjobs of S. Korean intelligence agency.

They were only looking for intel which shows Kim Jong-Il in some "normal" and "respectable" way. Such as him being a pragmatic reformer under Stalinist facade.

It is too bad for them that N. Korean reality sounds more like crude smearjobs.:)
