"I am with O'Reilly on this one! What a disgrace to the south."
When are people going to learn that people make decisions. These kids made their decision, not the south. The decision was made, not as a school function, rather as their own get-to-gether.
People cannot be forced to love others. Certain people will always harbor bias. In fact, I believe ALL people harbor biases of some form.
Look at any institution. Most all colleges and universities are racially diverse. But go in the student union or look at the commons. You will see groups of students and mostly, they will be structured by race. That is their preference.
And nothing Bill O'Reilly does will change that.

maybe HubcapO'Reilly should move from Long Island to Harlem to begin the commune of intertwined interests he so fervently seems to admire."Commune of interwined interests," is a good attempt to put a label on O'Reilly's rationale, here. The problem, is that I doubt that he has even thought it out himself. It is not a reasoned position--just another Pavlovian response, like those we discuss at my web site. He's no Communist, not even a Socialist--just a dupe, programed by some of the Left's conditioning tactics.

He may be a dupe but I don't think he's smart enough to be a 'willing' dupe.
He's an egomaniac who needs ratings points--I suspect that the numbers are getting weak.
It is very clear that he's a Big Gummint guy, through and through. He's also a very dis-oriented Catholic (he claims to be a Catholic) who has NO IDEA what some of the teachings of the Church are.
Often, these ideas (BigGummint/lousy Catholic) go hand-in-hand.

I get asked for money by a black church frequently but I've never been invited to their church services I didn't know you had to be invited to attend a church service. I think God welcomes everyone in 'His house' of worship. ;)I promise you if I walked into that church, you could hear a pin drop! Who said it was "God's house?" It's an extension of the NAACP and the preacher spends more time preaching from his version of the Voter's Guide than the Bible.
They have a banquet about once a month for some Democrat and several women have quit the church because they are "tired of cooking for the men." The preacher treats the female members of his church like they're his personal slaves, or so they say.
Only Democrats are invited to their "proms." BOO HOO HOO HOO! :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, O'Reilly......
After listening to OReilly pound home many nights on his show how RAP & HIP-HOP music is rotting our kids brains out, it may have hit home in Georgia.
Bill O'Reilly "The Rap on Rap"
Some parents may believe OReilly that rap is dangerous and exposure to most people is evil.
In addition, OReillys campaign about promiscuity VULGAR dirty dancing at proms a while ago on his show is dangerous to the youth.
Bill O'Reilly "Freak Dancing"
Some parents may believe OReilly is right and exposure to some kids is evil.
OReilly may have convinced parents to avoid dangerous cultural trends and take parental responsibility to keep their kids from environments that could damage their minds.
OReilly's past rants may have shown the way the in Georgia!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....may have....No matter what the reasons, this country is split down the middle on many issues.
Good Luck with protecting your families innocent today.

I am with O'Reilly on this one! What a disgrace to the south. Does anyone know if the kids in GA are Southerners? My experience has been (since the North took over the South in the 80s with enormous migration) that most of the people in GA are from NJ and NY. I found it hard to meet a person REALLY from GA when I was there - everyone had been transferred by a corporation from NJ and NY to GA.

Year before last my son did not attend his majority black highschool's prom. Instead he went to his girlfriend's majority asian highschool's prom.
Part of freedom is being able to do things like this without someone else getting bent out of shape. If they are, that means they have not gotten over undesirable totalitarian attitudes. The folks who are offended should be shunned!

A couple of weeks ago a cashier gave me the wrong change, and I was out two whole dollars. Why hasn't Bill O'Reilly issued a statement condemning the cashier? Does he actually approve of sloppy, irresponsible money-handling, or even worse -- theft?

...this country still has freedom of association There are too many responses for me to reply to each one individually but this one theme, freedom of association, seems to be coming up over and over again. The issue as I see it is not whether or not you can associate with whomever you want. That is a given. The issue is whether or not you should say to a person, based on your race, your color of skin, you cannot associate with us.
Having a white prom or a black prom in itself is not discriminatory. Saying that only whites or only blacks may attend is discriminatory. Justifying such segregationist behavior based on one's skin color is discrimination by race, regardless of who does it.
If a white person wants to come to the black prom or a black person wants to come to the white prom, should he be told no on the basis of his skin color alone?
To be EXCLUDED on the basis of skin color alone goes beyond freedom of association to become racial discrimination.
Nobody so far has been able to tell me otherwise.

It's not that he's wrong, it's that he's deliberately exploiting this event to garner ratings among blacks.
Proof? Where is his rage over ...

These are blatantly racist, but pointing out that kind of racial discrimination would hurt his ratings, and earn him the racist label.
"No Spin" would mean that he point out ALL racism, not just that which is profitable for him.

Actually, they had film of it on Nightline last night and I did see intergrated couples there. Howlin, if what you say is true, then it was not a whites only party. End of story isn't it?
Someone earlier suggested that only blacks like rap. That is absolutely not true.
Are you suggesting that the only difference between the white and the black proms was this matter of musical choice/preference?
Would you state that race was incorrectly identified as the basis for an invitation?
To: watchin
These are blatantly racist, but pointing out that kind of racial discrimination would hurt his ratings, and earn him the racist label. When each person is judged by the "content of his character rather than the color of his skin" THEN we will have reached the ideal of the color blind society. That's what we all should be working towards.
To: ThirstyMan
He's incorrect, because he is holding the governor of Georgia responsible for the actions of a small group of teenagers.
That's the problem I have with all this; he's blown it way out of proportion. There will likely always be isolated cases of this sort of thing; there's no reason for him to act like the governor sponsored the party.

Don't just say he's poking his nose into an area he knows nothing about or he has no business being in. He has identified a clear racist behavior as far as I can tell. Prove it to be otherwise
It may have NOTHING to do with RACE at all - maybe it is cultural - maybe it is music taste. Maybe it is simply the desire of some young people to enjoy the evening without getting into fights. I can GUARANTEE you it does not have to do with the COLOR of one's face (race). Party organizers have said that kids who bring friends who are black will be permitted. On the other hand you cannot prove it is RACE.

This is so bogus! Billis truly losing it or is just out of material. Do I not remember recently all black proms, clubs, seminars, reparation gettogethers at various leftist universities? Has Bill finaly succumed to believing the unbelievable? If so, he is toast.
To: ThirstyMan
To be EXCLUDED on the basis of skin color alone goes beyond freedom of association to become racial discrimination. Nobody so far has been able to tell me otherwise.
You cannot prove that is based upon "skin color alone" - no by a long shot. It is not discrimination. Even if it WERE, it is still constitutionally PROTECTED behavior. Private means private - when was the last time YOU discriminated against someone - how about the last time you had a party - you left some people out. It DOES NOT MATTER WHY - because that is your right under the FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION. Or is it only "government-protected" groups that get to claim discrimination when they get excluded? Oh, I GET IT. Those of us who do not fall into the [pick a minority of the day] category are not allowed to discriminate those who we associate with! Hmm. That sounds like DISCRIMINATION.
Go back and play at DU where they want to change the Constitution each week.
