Let me confess something: I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Saddam Hussein's statue toppled in Baghdad.

I am a poet and know that eyes can, and do, deceive.

For three decades, part of them spent in prison, part in hiding and part in exile, I had often dreamed of an end to the nightmare of the Baathist-fascist regime. But I had never dreamed that the end, that is to say Iraq's liberation, would come the way it did.

I agree with Jeff, this is a great read. Yesterday on Hannity's radio show, the mother of a soldier stationed in Kuwait called and mentioned she had heard from her son this past Sunday. He told her he couldn't understand the negativity in the media about the Iraqi reaction to US troops. Everyone he had talked to or come in contact with showed incredible appreciation. Children were drawing and coloring pictures of the American flag. The outpouring of gratitude was evident everywhere.

The liberal pressitudes are lying to the public in an attempt to undermine President Bush and the military. Despicable.

Some enterprising young soldier or Iraqi citizen could make a pretty penny or two by selling those to Americans like me who would want one. After all, it is time to start rebuilding that economy, and it sure would be nice to have their economy based on something more than just oil.

I think Awad is making something very important very, very clear --- Muslims around the world live in oppression and DESPERATELY WANT the same freedoms and opportunity to work and provide for their families that Americans enjoy, and that still exist to some extent in France, Germany and Britain.

The migration of millions of Muslims from their countries to Western nations will END when they are able to live without oppression in their own nations.

Our primary enemies are the socialists, the Lefties, in America and Europe and Britain who hate freedom everywhere. They SUPPORTED Saddam the same way they STILL support oppression in Cuba and North Korea. They HATE America because it is the MOST free nation on earth.

The Democratic party was against the war in Iraq, because they hate the liberties of America and don't want them to spread.

The Democratic party is a party of the French socialists, fighting against freedom everywhere. Especially in America.

Sigh....it's so nice to actually read a thank you note. And teacher, I'd pay for one of those coloring projects from one of those beautiful children too. God bless the troops and their CIC. And, no thanks to France, Russia, the U.N., Babs Streisand, Michael Moore, and all the rest of those who fought so hard for Saddam's repression, torture, and murdering regime.
