As a follow-up from a discussion we had a week or two ago. This is what I was basing the prediction of GOP picking up KY on. It's not a strong prediction, mind you, and history is certainly against it. And I've seen no polls to back it up. But I'm following the anti-incumbent feeling I watched in IL ('02) and VA ('01).
I believe this to be the case. Jackson comes across as a sincere person AND has had a significant impact in Louisville-Jefferson County. However, that's not enough to win statewide.
Ernie Fletcher is a good guy and will be the Republican candidate for Governor. He may decide to offer Ms. Jackson a position in his administration, which would be a good move AND increase Jackson's chances of winning the governorship later.
10-4. Our objective is to win AND become a significant force in Kentucky politics up and down the line. The citizens of Kentucky ARE ready for a change IMO.
