I haven't seen any of his shows yet. Any good?

The interviews are entertaining, just to see big wigs put up with a complete goof. The other stuff is pretty dumb.

Let me know exactly when the humour starts.

Poor Ms. Dowd doesn't realize that the funniest thing about this article is that she actually was reduced to writing it.
No Maureen, we aren't laughing WITH you, we are laughing AT you.

Uh, I don't think she's trying to ridicule the Bush White House (this time). I think it's simply an article about how she thinks Ali G is funny.Nah, I think she wants to point out how gullible Baker is here while also trying to show that she's still "plugged into" popular culture. (She's probably been dying to work "bling-bling" into a column for months.)

I liked Ellen and I find the Ali G show hilarious. I've grown to appreciate the fact that people respond to different kinds of humor.

I agree that Ali G is funny...I have seen two of his shows and both of them were hilariousMe too. Just the reactions of the people he interviews when he asks a stupid question is sometimes funnier than the question. When he asked that astronaut (I forget which one) how the people who live on the moon felt when he landed his spaceship there, I thought the guy was going to swallow his tongue.

What's one more lie in the NYT?
Let's not quibble.
snicker snicker

I don't buy this at all. It's PR.
Stuttering John has been doing this type of stuff for years. Ali G was Madonna's limo driver in one of her lame videos, and this guy has a show on HBO.
C'mon. Nobody knows he is a fake?
To: mabelkitty
Well, he's quite well known in Britain. I have online british buddies who have been speaking of him for years. Apparently, Maddona had him in her video to make her seem to be hip on the British scene.
He is quite unheard of in America, however, it would seem that there would be word passed around Washington as to his antics.
