Would you hear the same complaints if this had been a Clinton photo-op? McAuliffe is really pissed (as is Byrd, et al.) because this was a Clinton missed photo-op.
The thing that gets me is the Democrats contention that Bush had no business being on the carrier. Did I miss something? He is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces after all.

He is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces after all.There were a lot of complaints from conservatives after the Oklahoma City bombing, accusing him of grandstanding by showing up in Oklahoma City.
The Democrats rejoined that he was the President and so entitled to be there.
That photo-op, more than any other single event, reinvigorated his presidency when it was on the ropes.
