[history]
Sen. Robert C. Byrd yesterday criticized the "flamboyant showmanship" he said President Bush showed by declaring victory in Iraq from aboard USS Abraham Lincoln last week.
"It is an affront to the Americans killed or injured in Iraq for the president to exploit the trappings of war for the momentary spectacle of a speech," said Mr. Byrd, West Virginia Democrat.

Good Morning John!!
I cannot believe these Democraps, they are complaining about showmanship? What a bunch of hypocrites.
If they do it, it is political expediency, but if we do it, it's political showmanship.
These guys need to get voted out of office and shown the door. I am really tired of them.

Oh,pardon me but who the hell cares what that fossilized cracker says? Byrd is an embarassment to the US Senate, and should retire for the good of the country.

I just read this on Fox News and was ready to spit nails. Obviously, someone needs to pull the plug on Byrd's life support system: the man is brain dead.
Can Byrd fathom the morale boost the Navy received with the president's visit? Can he understands what it means to to military? No, because Byrd frame of context is from his own life: tobacco banners and political campaigns. Is it any wonder that that is all Byrd can see?
It is taking everything to keep from spitting nails or vulgarities at this fossil and I better stop here.

Here's the part that gives me a chuckle:
He also said he "could not help but contrast the reported simple dignity of President Lincoln at Gettysburg with the flamboyant showmanship" of Mr. Bush.
A Grand Kleagle praising Lincoln's Gettysburg Address?

Waxman and Byrd. Nothing more need be said.

Aside from the Commie and the Kleagle, no one else seems to be upset, so maybe we should just move on, eh?

The only thing more unbelievable than Byrd are the masochistic voters who pull the lever for him every election. God, those WV folks have a high tolerance for humiliation.

Mr. Byrd, have you asked the Americans injured in this war whether or not they were affronted? None of the sailors on that ship looked affronted. By the way, what is this obsession with having everything in W. VA. named after you?
Mr. Waxman, have you compared the costs between the Bush and Clinton trips? Number in entourages? Has Bush caught up yet? Is it even possible for him to? I didn't think so.

Might I suggest a change to the seniority rules in Congress?
I believe that the lack of turnover is due to the self-protecting nature of the bodies.
While there is something to be said for actual experience (on some committees), there are too many fossils that are only in
office due to the porks of seniority, instead of benefit to the country as a nation.

KKK Byrd obviously has no idea of what the operating cost per flight hour of a VH-3 compared to an S-3B is.
