One correction, though. . . I believe that of the two Bush Sr. appointed Supreme Court justices (Souter & Thomas), only Thomas voted to end the recounts.
Your analysis suggests that Souter was one of the five that joined in the per curiam opinion ending the Gore-Lieberman shenanigans.
The five justices were Rehnquist, Kennedy, O'Connor, Scalia & Thomas.
Souter, appointed by Bush Sr., had no hand in that.

Great point, Trace. I got carried away with doing the math and totally ignored who voted for what.
I shouldn't have given Souter the benefit of the doubt.(g)
