It's First Tuesday, so that means it's time for yet another installment of
"Truth, Justice & The American Way" with Michael King.

Michael's guest this month is Republican US Senatorial Candidate, Dr. Marvin Scott from Indiana.
Dr. Scott has been a professor of Sociology at Butler University for 13 years. He has been an educator at other institutions - primarily in the Northeast.
At the one-year out mark before the 2004 Indiana Primaries, we're going to talk about Dr. Scott's upcoming US Senate run against incumbent Democratic Senator Evan Bayh from Indiana, and the role of blacks in the Indiana GOP.
Of course, your questions are welcome as always either here in this thread, or in the chatroom which will be open!
Join Dr. Scott and I for the lively art of conversation on "Truth, Justice & The American Way" with Michael King, Tuesday Night at 9 ET on RadioFR!

Mike,
Here's someone else for you to call: Vernon Robinson. He's the son of one of the Tuskeegee Airmen of World War II, a Winston-Salem alderman, and a candidate for NC-5.

Today SO isn't Tuesday. But it's all good. Will Marvin Scott be getting any competition in the primary or is he the only Republican in the state with cojones?

JohnnyZ and I are trying to lure him to FR. Hm, not sure 'lure' is the right word there. Vernon already has better conservative creds than FR, believe it or not. I particularly like his emphasis on education vouchers, and I think it'd be good to have him pushing those along at the federal level; at the least it could inspire more states/localities to institute them.
He's no fan of affirmative action, either; if Florida, Texas, and Cali can get rid of it, shouldn't the rest of the country be able to?
For those not familiar, Vernon Robinson is a city councilor and former candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction in NC. He's in a crowded primary in a safe GOP congressional district. And he got his own Wall Street Journal editorial :) Some FReepers may remember him better as the man who advised people to buy a gun in addition to the standard emergency food/water/plastic/duct tape.

Sounds good. I'm hoping the fact that he was a Sociology professor does not mean he accepts Socialism. Just a bit of paranoia, on my part, because of the vast numbers of "Marxist" professors on campusses lately.

I hope the GOP doesn't serve up a Paul Helmke, who made Bayh look pro-2a and conservative.
I don't know anything about Scott, but if he's willing to do an FR radio gig, he can't be all bad.

Go Marvin Go!!!
To: JohnnyZ
I acknowledge that he has conservative creds, but if FR is useful for anything, it's the opportunity to use other FReepers for bouncing ideas off and for mobilizing people.

BTTT for Marvin Scott on the air with Michael King!
Looks like Republicans will be running with Bush and Mitch Daniels in 2004 in Indiana, quite a combination!

David McIntosh won't be happy to see him come home! In fact, Daniels is no shoo-in for the nomination.
