Reagan Won 49 State Landslide with only 58% Job Approval
In trying to determine the correlation between job approval ratings and Presidential elections, I looked at historical archives of Gallup (and other) Presidential Job Approval data. In 1984, Ronald Reagan won a landslide 525 electoral votes, winning 49 states with only a 58% approval on the eve of election. Here are some approval numbers of other presidents on the eve of their respective elections:

I agree. I think Bush will win everything, the two toss-ups being MA and RI.

I agree, when I heard the Libertarian pres nominee (Brown?) talk about the federal military needing to be defunded and in its place would rise a militia defense--right after 9/11, I realized that people are 3rd party because for the most part, they are kooks. Plain and simple. Losers. I too look at them as enemies. Haplessly pretentious, and hopelessly ineffective, but losers none the less.
The problem we have in CA is that the GOP has no faith! Simon ran a naive campaign and STILL almost became governor, and LA voted, probably a few times! We're going to win big time in 04.

Simon was such an incompetent. To be honest, if you do everything correctly, by 2005, you could have a Republican Governor and Senator. What a triumph. Too bad it is impossible to knock off any Democratic congressman. Had Simon not been such a fool, we would have won the 18th district.
Do you think that Issa could win the Governorship?

The only state Bush won't get is California. You really think Bush will win Taxachusetts?

Its difficult to say about Issa, because all I know about him is that he was targeted by a radical kook Jewish group to kill him, and he was disappointing (in my mind) concerning the 9/11 aftermath for criticising radical Muslims. This isn't the first time I've heard him mentioned though.
Arnold S has been mentioned, but he's way too much of a moderate to repeal the spending for my tastes. Condi Rice, for my money, is the front runner.

After peaking last summer, it bumped back up after the victory in Iraq. We'll see if it stays in that direction or drops back down.

Specifically, I want anyone who voted for the Clintons to be undergoing grand mal seisures. My wife was epileptic up until her recent surgery to remove the seizure focus.
I had the misfortune to see her undergo several grand mal seizures. I would not wish this on anyone.
I will however make an exception for clinton supporters on every election day. They are the enemy of my family, my God and my country and don't deserve to vote after what they did to us.
(Of course should they get saved and convert to Christian republicans then I'd be all for letting them vote again. God Please save them)

I'm glad that you brought the red = Republican, blue = Democrat map up. It is something that really buggs me. Since when did a communistic color symbol get equivalent to the anti-communist party? I suspect the Rats made the switcheroo to get the red sticma off of their party. Why did the Republicans allow it?
To: republicanwizard
okay, so Bush does a clean sweep, with the possible exception of DC right now. Need to add PR as a state to pad margin of victory.
