Hillary Clinton Attacks Bush, Sells Book

NEW YORK (Talon News) -- New York Sen. Hillary Clinton accused President Bush of having the worst economic policy since Herbert Hoover at a Democrat fundraising dinner outside of Hartford, CT.

Speaking at the Jefferson Jackson Bailey dinner, one of the Connecticut Democrat Party's more prestigious annual events, Clinton told the rapt audience that the country is "reaping the bad consequences of a wrong economic policy."

"They have the most wrong-headed economic policies that we've seen since Herbert Hoover," Clinton said.

Clinton's aggressive remarks at the April 28 event coincide with the release date announcement of her autobiography, "Living History," which is due in stores June 9. A mass-market audio edition will also be released on that day, read by Clinton.

Stores across the country have pre-ordered 1 million copies, and publisher Simon & Schuster will need to sell every one and then some to recoup its $8 million advance.

Clinton told the 1,500-plus crowd that the Bush administration was abandoning the middle class with tax cuts for the rich. She also stated that the Republicans are secretly plotting to dismantle the public education system.

"There have never been bigger differences between Republicans and Democrats," Clinton said. "I believe the Democratic Party is going to rise again."

Considered in political circles to be a potential candidate in 2004 and a definite candidate in 2008, Clinton's speech was geared toward invigorating the Democrats for the coming presidential election.

At one point during her speech, Clinton got a standing ovation. "I am sick and tired of people who call you unpatriotic if you debate this administration's policies. We are Americans. We have the right to participate and debate any administration."

Clinton helped raise over $350,000 at the Bailey dinner; a record for the event. The previous record of $300,000 was set last year by none other than former President Clinton.

I noticed that the first reviews on Hitlery's book, said it does not get into personal juicy Monica stuff, it is just a white wash of what anybody could write being a First Lady. THEn, it was noted abnd strongly hinted by the talking heads liberal leftists on TV that Hitlery does get gossipy and tells all about Zippergate. They are desparate to sell 'every last copy' and they want conservatives to buy it 'just to see' if she fesses up to killing Vince or something.

Why?

Bush is a known quantity now.
If by some chance he were to lose in 2004 to Lieberman or Kerry, her chances would be put off to 2012.
She can't afford to take that risk.

You gotta to be in it to win it!

She will continue to raise cash and announce at the last date possible.

Her reason for entering the race will be that she sees no other Dem beating Bush.

If she stays out of the 2004 race, she is voting for Bush because she knows that he is unbeatable.

We need to hammer home the fact that her husband pardoned Puerto Rican terrorists who had killed many people in this country, all in an effort to garner that constituencies votes for Hillary.

It stank in 2000 when Clinton gave the pardons, but will really have a stench in a post 9/11 world.

I may say at once that the changes proposed from all these Democratic principals and allies are of the most profound and penetrating character. If they are brought about this will not be the America which we have known in the past.


Let us pause for a moment and examine the American system of government, of social and economic life, which it is now proposed that we should alter. It is not the extension of bureaucracy. Expansion of government in business means that the government in order to protect itself from the political consequences of its errors or even its successes is driven irresistibly without peace to greater and greater control of the nation's press and platform. Free speech does not live many hours after free industry and free commerce die. It is a false liberalism that interprets itself into government operation of business. Every step in that direction poisons the very roots of liberalism. It poisons political equality, free speech, free press and equality of opportunity. It is the road not to liberty, but to less liberty.

True liberalism is found not in striving to spread bureaucracy, but in striving to set bounds to it. It is found in an endeavor to extend cooperation between free men. True liberalism seeks all legitimate freedom first in the confident belief that without such freedom the pursuit of other blessings is in vain. Liberalism is a force truly of the spirit proceeding from the deep realization that economic freedom cannot be sacrificed if political freedom is to be preserved.


Even if the government conduct of business could give us the maximum of efficiency instead of least efficiency, it would be purchased at the cost of freedom. It would increase rather than decrease abuse and corruption, stifle initiative and invention, undermine development of leadership, cripple mental and spiritual energies of our people, extinguish equality of opportunity, and dry up the spirit of liberty and progress. Men who are going about this country announcing that they are liberals because of their promises to extend the government in business are not liberals; they are reactionaries of the United States.

This is why Democrats hate Hoover, and if America had elected him the Great Depression would have only lasted 2 yrs.
