I don't see anything wrong with expressions like this, brutal though they may be. Now that Geragos and his smoke and mirrors publicity machine are in the game--and yes, it has become a game b/c of the entry of this media-loving quick-change artist--we'll probably need brutal stuff like this just to counteract the GARBAGE that Geragos will attempt to spin about "poor Scott".
