How do you feel about funding illegal aliens medical bills.
After the Mt. Hood incidents the feds decided to spend an additional $3 million to pay to have these services available. That is $3 million that does not come from state and local tax collections earmarked for emergency services.
Could you also point out the clause in the Constitution that says a person has a right to be rescued from their own stupidity.

I personally think I would have preferred to die. You would rather die than lose 14" of your body?

LOL . . . He's a granola-munching trail hound, that's for sure. Probably never seen the real wilderness.

I sure hope that it is not your child that has to be rescued some day. I suppose you would wish death on your own child if they needed to be rescued from putting themselves in harms way?

I know Mystery Y and you just made a fool of yourself with that comment.
To: ican'tbelieveit
You and he trail buddies, are you?
To: ican'tbelieveit
I think you need to have your doc adjust your meds.
I think I hear Hillary calling you to sit on her next Universal Health care committee.

Yeah, go out in our flip flop sandals with our long mangy hair every weekend? If the extreme left and extreme right have their way, no one will get to enjoy God's creation. The extreme right is becoming more ridiculous than the left with every passing day. I know, lets make laws, that it will take taxpayer $$$ to enforce to prohibit anyone from stepping outside of a city limits without a "buddy." And oh boy, if you violate that law, lets spend more taxpayer money putting you in jail for the rest of your life, yeah that is the solution.

Isn't it funny that when you disagree with someone on your own side, you attack them as a liberal. Can't really argue your point, so I must be a liberal. Really intelligent debate.
To: ican'tbelieveit
No conservative wants such a law. Get real.
To: Wright is right!
Yup he's brave. But he didn't have to be. And there you have it.

I am not calling you a liberal but if the birkenstoks fit..
You have stated that we, as a country should all pay for each others mistakes.
Where I have stated that the responsiblity should be that of the individual.

I don't understand why there is such an outcry about a man going out and doing what he enjoys then? For goodness sake, my tax money pays for hospitals every day that treat people for self induced accidents in their own homes. Hey, I know, I am out of shape, but let me run down to the bball court with my kid and break an ankle. Foolish, yes, and whether that person has insurance or not, you and I, the taxpayers subsidize part of that person's treatment.
In regards to the illegal aliens, yes, it irks me to no end that they get free health care, but I still would never deny them treatment. There are ways to address this, but not thru denial. Why not spend more energy addressing trial lawyers who have driven up the costs of insurance for doctors and hospitals which is passed onto the end consumer/patient so that the end consumer/patient cannot afford health care?

If you ever need a reminder of Nietchze's (sp?) philosophy of the weak scavenging at the strong, just come back to this thread.
My idea of the great outdoors (being a City Slicker) is hiking through Mount Albion Cememtery. But even I, who know next to nothing about our great outdoors, am in awe of this wilderness man's immeasurable courage and will to live.
There isn't a soldier on the face of the globe who would look at this man, and not see a fellow blood and guts warrior.
Hope he makes a full recovery, and may God bless him and keep him.

See post above. I wish I could pay my own healthcare; I can't even afford to pay for health insurance. And I take every possible means to avoid getting sick or injured while I am in this situation in life. But would you deny me treatment at a hospital if I were to go for a walk this afternoon and injure myself and need treatment?
And if that situation were to happen, there is no way I could afford to pay the costs of what will be billed for my treatment. I don't want your tax $$$ to pay for it, but what really needs to be addressed is the reason it is so high.
And the helicopters that are used in these very same rescues are funded for other reasons to, where it isn't the individual's fault. Are you going to tell the rescue people not to rescue someone because, oh gee, they caused this themselves?
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
Not necessarily. I just know that I wouldn't be able to cut off my arm with a pocket knife. The psychological horror of it all would do me in. In fact, this whole story reads like my worst nightmare. That's why death would seem preferable. I wouldn't be able to endure it. I'm also terrified to death of heights...
So, yes, I'd be the wuss atop the mountain, who was begging the lord to have mercy and take her away...
I'm generally a pretty tough cookie. But we all have our limits. And it's atop that lone mountain that I would have found mine.
