A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 5/1/03
yahoo.com, whitehouse.gov

Posted on 05/01/2003 7:13:51 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush and First Lady Laura began the day in a ceremony honoring the National Day of Prayer. Bush then headed to San Diego where he co-piloted a Navy Viking jet and landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln, a truly historic moment for American Presidents and our country. The President then spoke to the nation saying that major combat operations in Iraq are over. Bush also took the opportunity to once again thank the men and women of our military. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

GROSS! UGH I am so glad I didn't see that display. I hadn't discovered Fox news at that time even though I had it (what the heck was wrong with me!) and I think I watched it on NBC. I think- I was so deliriously happy and INCREDULOUS that it's all a blur. But actually FYI I haven't watched Chrissy at all EXCEPT if I am flipping channels and he has Pat Cadell on-the one that was formerly a Democratic pollster that has long hair and a beard and looks INSANE - but somehow is always coming out on the President's side. He totally ROASTED the tree during the election stuff- it was awesome. I see him on now some- I think someone needs to tell him that he's not a Dem anymore- he's usually on the conservative side!

I have a 14K gold F-16 pendant that was given to me when I left working full time back in 1994. I love it and wear it often.

You're right about the A, it's F/A 18 (Fighter/Attack) Super Hornet. The Thunderbirds are coming to our airshow this year. I love the demonstration teams, they are the cream of the crop among our services' fighter pilots.

I know what you mean about their being able to sneak up on you. Whenever I hear our guys flying around, I try to remember to look way in front of the noise if I want to see them. They fly over my house almost every day, it's just SO COOL, even after all these years. My favorite was watching a F-117 come in the day before our last airshow. He gave all of us our own private demonstration, it was awesome. I've been around military aircraft all my life and the excitement never fades. (well there was the one time I flew in a C-130 to Hawaii for 12 hours, that wasn't so exciting!)

Thank you for the comments on my page. I'm still working on it. I'm just learning how to post photos and such.

Oh and I had a brother in the Navy. In fact, he was on the Battleship USS Iowa, when it had a big gun explosion accident about 14 years ago. Scared the daylights out of the whole family. He was in Sicily when we went after the terrorists who took over the Achille Lauro and he was in Panama. He got out after that.

I get so proud of this president sometimes I could burst, and today he was so awsome!!!! And he looked sooo good in that flight suit. I was hoping against hope he would wear it to give his speech.

My husband has been chiding the pilot for catching the fourth cable. He was about to have heart failure thinking he had missed them all, when the plane stopped.

Honestly, I was just flipping channels and only stopped cause I saw Ann Coulter, really can NOT stand Matthews one bit, so I didn't stick around for long even though I love Ann.

The Thunderbirds! COOL!! Those guys are something to see. I am glad to see I remebered the A- it was so hard trying to remember all those call letters that day LOL! My parents live up on the bluff above the little regional airport (private planes) where the airshow was and the Angels would fly over their house- it was SO cool and loud!

I am moving to wisconsin soon, and the first thing I thought was "The Oshkosh airshow!! sweet!" LOL!

Well, I didn't tell him that there was a time decades ago when the hotdog pilots liked to catch the last one as a show of skill. My foster father was a Navy pilot and he did go along with that, saying he liked to get down anyway he could.

Well, they aim for the Number 3 cable, but sometimes the hook bounces on the deck and misses, so it catches the 4th. The pilot is in the top 10 "tailhookers" in the Navy, so I'm sure he's getting ribbed but good anyway.

Well gang, it's almost 2 a.m. and I gotta get up at 7 to get my son off to school. So, while this has been LOADS of FUN!!!! I'm off to bed. Good night everyone.

After W's speech tonight, when he was shaking hands with the sailors, he suddenly stopped, turned and blew a kiss. Does anyone know what happened to provoke that? It was precious!
